摘要： The group of inventions relates to the field of organic chemistry and can be used for cleaning water, industrial and domestic waste water or waste water sediment, and for the containment and recovery of petroleum and petroleum product spills in large bodies of water, rivers, lakes and seas. In the claimed group of inventions, aqueous solutions of polysaccharide microgels, having a molecular mass of 20000-200000 daltons and a particle size of 50-600 nm, are used as a substance for cleaning water of petroleum and petroleum products. Moreover, low concentrations of polysaccharide microgels in water, ranging from 0.1 to 20 g/l, are used. Said solutions are used as a surface modifier for a filter used in separating water-oil emulsions, as a sorbent for the containment and recovery of oil spills in an aqueous medium, and also as a coagulant for the cleaning of water polluted by petroleum and petroleum products. The technical result is in making it possible to recover a commercial product, recovered during the process of cleaning water of petroleum or petroleum products, and to recover the starting substance for the reuse thereof, while simultaneously simplifying the slurry utilization process.

摘要： An apparatus and method for capturing a contaminant present in a body of water that includes a collection media for capturing the contaminant and a structure. The collection media has a first end secured to the structure. The collection media has a second buoyant end disposed opposite the first end wherein buoyant end is a free end. The structure does not float at the water surface and holds the first end of the collection media below the buoyant second end in the water column. When the apparatus is deployed in a water column having a depth greater than the height of the apparatus, the apparatus is selectively positioned in the water column at a desired height. A method of employing the collection media is also disclosed.

The bladder glands can be activated by a supply line or remotely supplied for multiple charges.

摘要： A process is provided for preparing a novel highly oil absorbent peat product useful to control oil spills for oil spill clean up. The process involves first preparing an initial mixture by mixing peat with an alkaline earth metal basic product, e.g., a magnesium/calcium hydroxide lime substitute material, e.g., at a ratio of about 1:15 to about 1:45. Then, that mixture is partially dried by heating either directly in an oven or a microwave oven or indirectly by a heat exchanger for a predetermined period of time, e.g., at a maximum temperature of about 150°C, for a maximum time of about 15 minutes. Then, a further mixture is prepared by mixing additional such basic material with the partially dried peat, e.g., magnesium/calcium hydroxide lime substitute material with the partially dried peat, e.g., at a ratio of about 1:10 to about 1:20. The further mixture is then heated, either directly in an oven or a microwave oven or indirectly by a heat exchanger, e.g., at a maximum temperature of about 150°C for a maximum time of about 15 minutes until the peat has the desired moisture content, e.g., about 5-10%. This novel product can absorb some 20 times its own weight of oil which makes it very advantageous for cleaning up oil spills either on land or on water. Also, the oil contained in the absorbent after it has been used to clean the oil spills may be easily removed.
