摘要： A passenger entertainment system employing an improved digital audio signal distribution system and method for use on commercial aircraft and other vehicles. A plurality of digital audio signal sources (12) are provided for generating a plurality of compressed digital audio signals. The compressed digital audio signals are provided to a multiplexer (14) which domain multiplexes those signals to produce a single composite digital audio data signal. The composite digital audio data signal is provided to a demultiplexer (18) which is capable of selecting a desired channel from the composite digital audio data signal. The selected channel is provided to a decompression circuit (20), where it is expanded to produce a decompressed digital output signal. The decompressed digital output signal is then provided to a digital-to-analog converter (22) and converted to an analog audio signal. The analog audio signal is provided to an audio transducer (24).

The recorded datalog can be periodically read and used for revising a prosthetic prescription by altering the settings and used as a means of refining initial prescriptions of other patients whose audiometric characteristics are similar to those of the user. In one embodiment for a programmable auditory prosthesis the datalogging information includes the number of times control programs are changed, the number of times a given control program is selected, and the total time duration for which a given program is selected. Accordingly, the processing of signals by a signal processor can be turned to fit the needs of an individual user. The prosthesis can have a remote control unit, and a datalog memory can be provided in the remote control unti along with a programmable memory which stores the control programs.

When playing back audio content in a given playback configuration, the audio stage may apply a particular spectral filter corresponding to that configuration.
