    • A microfluidic interconnect system and method for assembly thereof is described. The microfluidic interconnect has a port (400) and a seal (500), with the port having a reverse taper. The port has a first port end (410), a second port end (420), and an inner port surface (430) with a tapered portion. Each port end has an opening with a diameter, and in certain embodiments, the diameter (417) of the first port end is smaller than the diameter (427) of the second port end. The seal has a first end (510) and a second end (520), and each seal end has a rim and an opening with an inner diameter and an outer diameter. The seal also has an inner surface (530) and an outer surface (540), where in certain embodiments, each surface has a tapered portion. In certain embodiments, the inner diameter (517) of the first seal end is equal to or larger than the inner diameter (527) of the second seal end, the outer diameter of the first seal end (518) is equal to or smaller than the outer diameter of the second seal end (528), and the outer diameter of the second seal end is larger than the outer diameter of each port end. In certain embodiments, a tube (600) is slidably coupled to the inner surface of the seal, and the tube has an outer diameter (618) that is equal to or larger than the inner diameter of the second seal end.

    • An adaptor assembly adapted to be fitted onto a service pipe, where the service pipe comprises a host pipe that is lined with an interior lining pipe. The adaptor assembly includes a body that is adapted to form a seal with the host pipe, a bore extending along a longitudinal axis of said body, and a compression element mountable on said body so as to be rotatably and axially displaceable relative to the body. The adaptor assembly further includes a piston that is axially translatable relative to said body, an annular flange protruding radially inwards from said body into said bore, wherein the annular flange is inclined in a direction generally parallel to said longitudinal axis and a grip ring disposable between said piston and said flange, said grip ring having an inner radial surface adapted to bear against and grip an outer radial surface of the lining pipe during use. A first slip spacer is disposable between the compression element and the piston to allow the transmission of axial load from the compression element to the piston but to substantially prevent the transmission of torque therebetween. The compression element is rotatably and axially moveable relative to said body to axially displace the piston relative to the body causing the grip ring to bear against the inclined annular flange and grip radially inwardly against the outer radial surface of the lining pipe during use.
