摘要： The plateau region of P-C-T isotherm of a hydrogen absorbing alloy between the α phase region and β phase region thereof is expressed by a normal cumulative distribution function wherein hydrogen content X is taken as frequency and the logarithm of equilibrium hydrogen pressure as a random variable. Parameters such as standard deviation σ of the function are determined by numerical analysis based on measured data as to the equilibrium hydorgen pressure and hydrogen content of the plateau region of the alloy to be evaluated. Whether the equilibrium characteristics of the alloy are acceptable is determined using the parameters as evaluation criteria.

The nickel-metal hydride storage cell of the invention comprises in a cell case, a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode active material composed mainly of nickel hydroxide powder, a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode active material composed mainly of hydrogen-absorbing alloy powder, and a separator interposed between the positive and negative electrodes and impregnated with an electrolyte, the nickel-metal hydride storage cell characterized in that the negative electrode active material comprises a copper compound, the positive electrode comprises an aggregate of coated particles each in which a coating layer comprising a sodium-containing cobalt compound is formed on a surface of a nickel hydroxide particle, and the positive electrode active material is such that an oxide or hydroxide of one of bismuth, calcium, ytterbium, manganese, copper, scandium, and zirconium, is added to the aggregate of coated particles.

摘要： For use in lithium secondary cells, a positive electrode terminal 51 and a negative electrode terminal 81 are given an enhanced mechanical strength to improve the reliability of electrical connection between the cell and an external circuit, while the formation of oxide film on these terminals is inhibited to suppress the discharge voltage drop of the cell. To give these advantages to the lithium secondary cell embodying the invention, the positive electrode terminal 51 is formed from an aluminum alloy containing magnesium and silicon in a combined amount of at least 1.0 wt. % as additive elements, and the negative electrode terminal 81 is formed by plating a substrate of oxygen-free copper with nickel.
