摘要： An improved graphical manipulation technique for a home communications terminal (HCT) includes a linked-list of commands controlling various video operations in an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC). After each command has been implemented by the ASIC, the ASIC (200) proceeds to the next command without interrupting a host processor (303). Accordingly, the linked-list (302) eliminates the need of the host processor to continually process interrupts at the completion of each instruction. 摘要： A video display system, comprises a video display having a first format display ratio. A picture height circuit (1010) determines an active picture height from an input video signal having a second format display ratio. A detector circuit (1030) identifies letterbox formats responsive to the active picture height in the signal and determines a format display ratio of the letterbox picture. A zoom circuit (1032) is operable in a first mode for enlarging the picture in size to fill the display substantially entirely, and operable in a second mode for enlarging the picture in size to substantially fill the display vertically. A vertical pan circuit (1034) centers the picture. The detector can identify the format display ratio of the letterbox format picture. A deflection system (50) is controllable in vertical size by a variable vertical scan rate, in horizontal size by variable horizontal expansion and compression, and in pan position by varying the vertical reset in phase.

摘要： An apparatus and method of altering video images to enable the addition of images, message, slogans or indicia in such a manner that they appear to be part of the original image as displayed. The application of the apparatus and method is particularly adapted to be used as advertising during sporting events or other events whereby an operator selects a portion of the video image display (16) such as a portion of a tennis court (12), recognizes the selected portion (17) and inserts a logo or advertising message (27) into that selected portion. The message is inserted into the selected portion of the court independent of how the scene is being panned or viewed by the television camera. The apparatus employs a pattern recognition algorithm such as the Burt Pyramid Algorithm to recognize the specific selected image portion.

摘要： digital video zoom system includes circuitry for writing (20) image samples into a memory (16) at a standard rate and for reading (22) samples from the memory at a reduced rate. Samples are read from the memory under control of a digital accumulator (22) which repeatedly adds a value N to a stored value, modulo M, to obtain a new stored value. Samples are read from the memory only when an overflow condition is detected in the accumulator. The four most significant bits of the value held by the accumulator are also used to develop interpolation factors which are used (28-34) to combine successive sample values provided by the memory to develop interpolated sample values which are used to produce the enlarged image. The image is increased in size by a factor of M/N relative to an unmagnified image.
