    • Disclosed herein is apparatus for fabricating a coil spring 15 including axially opposite end convolutions having respective ends respectively knotted to the associated end convolutions, which apparatus comprises a frame 31, a coil forming device 35 mounted on the frame and operative to initially form a coil spring including axially opposite end convolutions having respective free ends, a tempering device 40 mounted on the frame and operative to temper the initially formed coil spring, a knotting mechanism 45 mounted on the frame and operative to respectively knot the free ends of the tempered coil spring to the associated end convolutions, and a transport mechanism 55 mounted on the frame and operative to transport the initially formed coil spring to said tempering device, and to transport the tempered coil spring to the knotting mechanism.
      Also disclosed herein is a method of fabricating a coil spring including an end convolution having an end knotted to the end convolution, which method comprises steps of initially forming a coil spring including an end convolution having a free end, tempering the initially formed coil spring, and knotting the free end of the initially formed and tempered coil spring to the end convolution.

    • The proposal is for a machining centre for machining workpieces (26). It has at least one working unit (22) with a rotary tool (24) for machining a workpiece (26) arranged in a machining section (28). The workpiece (26) is firmly clamped on a workpiece holder (15) fitted with a clamping device (25) for that purpose. The workpiece holder (15) can be taken to a workpiece changing station (35) where the workpiece can be changed. During this process the workpieces (26) are taken up and laid down from above by the clamping device (25). During machining the workpiece (26) is secured in suspension from the workpiece holder (15). The machining centre ensures high productivity with the smallest operating effort.

    • A composite machine tool which can continuously execute laser machining to diversified slopes of a work having a 3-D shape without changing the attitude of the work in a composite machine tool capable of alternately executing cutting and laser machining on a single machine. A lens (72) for converging a laser beam is fixedly disposed in the second passage (70) of the outgoing portion (68). A movable reflection plate (78) supported by a shaft (66) is provided between the first and second passages (64, 70). The movable reflection plate (78) rotates around the shaft (66) interlocked with the relative rocking motion of the outgoing portion (68) relative to the fitting portion (54) and to the communication portion (62), and guides a laser beam passing through the first passage (64) to a lens (72) inside the second passage (70) at all the rocking inclined positions of the outgoing portion (68).
