The layer (14) of heat-concentrating material causes the opening of the outer package (3) by melting a portion thereof, during heating of the assembly in a microwave oven, and the substrate (6) prevents the outer package (3) from sticking to the base of the oven. There can also be a sheet (12) of insulating material between the inner wrapper (2) and the outer package (3).
Handling operations are reduced and the protection and optimum degree of humidity are maintained until the time the product is put in the oven.

摘要： A method and article for microwave bonding of thermplastic closures such as that used in splicing telecommunications wires. The article is a composite bonding material (CBM) having a thermoplastic matrix (preferably polyethylene) which is miscible with the thermoplastic material of the closure, and a plurality of microwave susceptor particles dispersed throughout the matrix. A strip is fashioned from the CBM and may be applied to the sealing edges of the closure. Upon application of microwave energy in an amount sufficient to heat the susceptors and cause both the CBM matrix and the adjacent portion of the closure to melt and flow together, a fusion bond is produced which seals the closure. If the closure is being used with a cable having an inner conductive layer or sheath, a second CBM may be used at this seal, having magnetically reactive susceptors.

摘要： A container body is sealed with a cover consisting of an insulating flexible sheet, and an antenna consisting of a conductive band is laminated on the cover. Consequently, when the container body is exposed to microwaves in a microwave range, the energy of the microwaves is focused to a position in the vicinity of the tip portion of the antenna. This energy is converted into heat, with which the cover is opened. The cover is thus melt-opened reliably to a suitable size.

The matrix typically comprises polymeric or ceramic materials that are stable at temperatures conventionally used in microwave cooking.
