    • A hydraulic fluid energy regeneration system for a work machine capable of securely maintaining a brake pressure even when a solenoid valve or the like is erroneously rendered open by an electrical failure is provided. The hydraulic fluid energy regeneration system for a work machine, including a first hydraulic actuator; a second hydraulic actuator; and a first hydraulic pump that supplies a hydraulic fluid to the first hydraulic actuator via a first hydraulic line, includes: an upper control valve that is connected to a discharge side on which the hydraulic fluid is discharged from the second hydraulic actuator when an object to be driven by the second hydraulic actuator falls under its own weight, and that can regulate a flow rate of the hydraulic fluid discharged from the second hydraulic actuator; a communication hydraulic line that connects the upper control valve to a hydraulic fluid tank; a lower control valve that is provided in the communication hydraulic line and that can regulate a flow rate of the hydraulic fluid discharged from the upper control valve to the hydraulic fluid tank; and a regeneration hydraulic line that has one end side connected to a branch section between the upper control valve and the lower control valve in the communication hydraulic line and that has an other end side connected to the first hydraulic line.

    • An engine control system includes pressure sensors (73, 74), position sensors (75, 76), pressure sensors (77, 78), a target revolution speed modification value computing unit (90), and a modification value adder (70r). A target revolution speed NR2 for use in control is computed based on changes of status variables such that the target revolution speed NR2 increases from the target revolution speed NR1 applied from an input unit (71), and then moderately returns to the target revolution speed NR1. In accordance with the computed target revolution speed NR2 for use in control, a target fuel injection amount FN1 is computed and a fuel injection amount is controlled. As a result, a drop of an engine revolution speed attributable to an abrupt increase of an engine load can be suppressed without sacrificing the work efficiency, and lowering of durability caused by an excessive increase of the engine revolution speed can be prevented.

      The hydraulic energy regeneration system for the work machine, includes: a communication pressure boost passage that can boost a pressure of a discharge-side hydraulic fluid by communicating a discharge side and a suction side of the hydraulic cylinder with each other during an own weight fall of a driven body; a communication pressure boost valve that is disposed in the communication pressure boost passage and that can regulate one of or both of a pressure and a flow rate of the communication pressure boost passage; a reuse-side line and a reuse control valve or a regeneration-side line and a regeneration control valve that can regenerate a hydraulic fluid discharged from the hydraulic cylinder during the own weight fall of the driven body; and a controller. The controller is configured to reduce an opening degree of the communication pressure boost valve in response to an increase of the discharge-side pressure of the hydraulic cylinder right after the discharge-side pressure reaches a preset high load set pressure, and gradually reduces the opening degree of the communication pressure boost valve with passage of time.
