摘要： Thermal recovery wells, geothermal wells and deep hot wells may involve the application of heat to the cement sheath and well casing at some time after the cement has set. Such heating may subject the cement sheath to mechanical burdens that may lead to failure. Such burdens may be lessened if the linear thermal coefficient of expansion is variable and approximates that of the well casing. A variable linear thermal coefficient of expansion may be achieved by incorporating blast furnace slag, silica fume, fly ash or a combination thereof in the cement blend.

The predictions may be verified by laboratory testing before using the cement system during a cementing treatment.

摘要： A system and methodology facilitates the supply of electrical power in a variety of harsh environments. The technique may utilize an electrical power cable having an insulator located around an electrical conductor. The insulator and the electrical conductor are positioned within a metallic tube. In a variety of applications, the metallic tube enables construction of the electrical power cable without an armor layer. A jacket is disposed between the insulator and the metallic tube and is designed to compensate for differences in thermal expansion between the materials. The jacket may be formed with gas pockets distributed therein to compensate for a different level of thermal expansion of the jacket relative to, for example, the metallic tube.

The method includes entering a training phase by a first modem and transmitting in parallel at least two acoustic messages on at least two different frequencies.
