摘要： A prefilled syringe for one or two component medicaments is based upon the use of a vial (6) containing a medicament or one component (A) of a medicament, the vial having an open bottom closed by a piston (8). When the piston is coupled with a plunger (10), and an adapter cap (2) having an internal needle (22) and an external connection (27) for a needle is placed over a cap (4) of the vial (6), the latter is converted into a prefilled syringe. The piston has an axial passage (46, 48) closed by a resealable septum (50), so that a separate diluent (B) stored in a flexible capsule (14) may be introduced into the vial (6) through the piston (8) by a double ended needle (42, 44) mounted on a further cap (12) applied to the capsule (14), the further cap being coupled within the tubular interior of the plunger so that the double ended needle penetrates the septum (50) in the piston. The capsule (14) is pushed forward onto the double ended needle when its contents are to be expelled into the vial (6). The capsule (14) and its cap are then removed and discarded. Alternatively, the outer end of the needle on the further cap may be replaced by a coupling to the external connection on the adapter cap so that the capsule faces the syringe and the capsule may be pressed towards the syringe so that the needle within the further cap penetrates the capsule, the needle within the adapter cap penetrates the vial, and the contents of the capsule can be transferred to the vial before the capsule and its cap are discarded.

摘要： A system is provided which permits syringe barrels of prefilled disposable syringes to be filled and capped on standard vial filling equipment, and which permits the syringe body and piston comprising the barrel to be simultaneously sterilized by a sterilizing gas. The system provides means for stabilizing syringe barrels so they can be conveyed upright on their bases without tipping through vial filling and capping equipment. Preferably, the stabilizing means comprises a cylindrical sleeve into which the lower end of the syringe body is inserted, thereby stably supporting it against tipping. The system also provides means by which the piston is retained in close proximity to the lower end of the syringe body, but slightly separated therefrom to permit access to all surfaces of the piston by a sterilizing gas. Preferably, the piston is retained directly below the lower end of the syringe body, and substantially centred therewith, to permit the piston to be inserted into the lower end of the body merely by pushing the body and piston together.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention relate generally to cartridges, devices and methods for pharmaceutical constituents for storage, mixing and delivery. Particular embodiments relate to a device and method for pharmaceutical constituent mixing and delivery using a double-chambered cartridge within a socket member, for use as part of a syringe device. Other embodiments relate to a cartridge assembly for storing the pharmaceutical constituents prior to mixing and a method of forming the cartridge assembly. Still further embodiments relate to an extensible plunger for actuation of the delivery device. The extensible plunger is actuated in a first stroke while in its retracted state to mix the constituents and is actuated in a second stroke in its extended state to deliver the mixed constituents to an external volume.

摘要： The present invention provides for an assembly (36) for transferring a fluid between a vessel (22) having a body (24) with an open end (26) and a slidable piston (30) positioned within the body and a vial (10) having a penetrable seal. The assembly includes a housing (42) having first (48) and second (50) open ends, and a bore (52) extending between the first and second open ends. The housing is removably connectable to the piston. The assembly also includes a conduit having first and second ends and first and second apertures adjacent to the first and second ends, respectively. The conduit (70) is longitudinally slidable within the bore between a retracted position and an activated position. The assembly further includes a vial socket assembly (40) having a vial socket (82) for receiving and engaging at least a portion of the vial including the penetrable seal and a hollow piercing member (78) having a first open end in fluid communication with the conduit and a second open end for piercing the penetrable closure. The vial socket assembly is moveable longitudinally relative to the housing in concert with the conduit.
