摘要： A printing mechanism for use in an impact printing system primarily intended for the transfer of a dry film impression onto an image carrying tape. The mechanism includes a hammer (130), and an anvil (126). The hammer is actuated by lever arm (164) which is in turn actuated by eccentric cam (194). The degree of impression is controlled by an eccentric bearing (211) and the hammer can be adjusted for exact parallel engagement by moving plate (142) which pivots the hammer. The system is actuated by a geared drive train which rotates the eccentric cam (194) and causes the hammer to reciprocate.

The cam is movable by a crank arm (42) also movable in an arc between two limit positions. The driving connections between the crank arm and the cam is effected through a pin-and-slot arrangement such that there is driving contact between the crank arm and the cam intermediate the two limit positions, and virtually no driving contact at the two limit positions, so that vibration of the crank arm is not transferred to the print element.

摘要： This disc printer uses a relatively massive, rigid print disc (22) having a flat face on which two sets of raised character fronts (21,22) are arranged in separate spirals. Advantage ously, the inner font set (21) contains machine readable characters which are printable with high resolution, and a second font set (22) arranged so that the characters are upright as they pass a print zone which is vertically offset from the zone in which the high resolution characters are printed. The print disc acts as the platen for printing. With this arrangement, the same print disc can be used to print characters onto a record medium (10) at two different elevations, while maintaining the medium flat. arid without the need to transport the medium vertically. A check printer also is dis- dosed which uses the print disc to print machine readable, high resolution characters onto the check (10) during linear transport of the check in one direction, and to print other indicia onto the check during linear transport thereof in either the same or the opposite direction.

摘要： A dual station hot debossing stamper (10) for a report or book cover includes a print engine (20) having a character finger daisy wheel forcer and a logo die forcer which are actuatable independently by a common servo motor (90) through respective gear trains. The print engine moves line-by-line and a platen moves character-by-character. A print wheel (30) is inserted and locked into the engine in a character debossment operation with a motor (39) driving the print wheel (30). When using a logo die (52), the print wheel (30) and casing is removed and using a loader-unloader tool (50) the die is articulated under the logo die forcer. Insertion of a logo transfer tape cartridge (60) shifts the gears in the print engine (20). A second character tape cartridge (40) is used with the print wheel (30). A dedicated personal computer (5) and associated software and firmware programs control the stamping apparatus.

摘要： The selector device for a character-carrying element of a printing machine comprises a d.c. electric motor (136) whose rotor is capable of selectively rotating in either direction a coupling arrangement comprising a pinion (143) on the motor shaft (142) and a gear (123) on the shaft (76) which carries the hub (75) for mounting a daisywheel printing element and a strobe disc (122) which provides the position signals used to control character selection. A device for taking up clearances minimises the radial clearances between the pinion (143) and the gear (123).
