    • The present invention provides a hydraulic control system for automatic transmissions, which includes line pressure control means (10) for regulating hydraulic pressure generated in an oil pump to a line pressure level, damper clutch control means (6) for receiving the line pressure to control a damper clutch, shift control means (22) for receiving the line pressure and supplying the same according to each shift mode (S2,S3), hydraulic pressure distributing means (24,26,28,29) for receiving hydraulic pressure from the shift control means (22) and supplying the same to a plurality of friction elements (C1,C2,C3,B1,B2), and hydraulic pressure control means (14) for regulating the line pressure and supplying the same to the hydraulic pressure distributing means (18,20) to correspond to each shift mode wherein abrupt pressure exhaust preventing means (15) is provided which slows exhaust of hydraulic pressure when shifting from drive D or reverse R ranges to a neutral N range.

    • An automatic transmission control apparatus has a clutch (1), a hydraulic servo for the clutch, a fluid pressure control unit, a range shift detector, and an electronic control unit. The fluid pressure control unit has a manual valve, a pressure regulating valve device, and a changeover valve device. The electronic control unit controls the changeover valve device and the pressure regulating valve device. Immediately after shift to the forward driving range, the electronic control unit holds the changeover valve device in such a state that a forward driving range pressure is supplied without passing through the pressure regulating valve device. Then, the electronic control unit shifts the changeover valve device to such a state that a regulated pressure is supplied from the pressure regulating valve device, which has been switched to a pressure regulating state by the electronic control unit. This control operation precisely sets the fluid pressure changeover timing and the initial fluid pressure.

This control system includes: release means for releasing the clutch by lowering the oil pressure to be fed to the hydraulic servo, when the stop state of the vehicle is detected by the stop state detecting means; and application means for applying the clutch by raising the oil pressure to be fed to the hydraulic servo, when the vehicle stop state is not detected by the stop state detecting means while the clutch is being released by the release means. The application means raises the oil pressure gradually, but raises it abruptly if an application ending condition dictating the engagement end of the clutch is satisfied. The oil pressure is abruptly raised, when the application ending condition is satisfied if the throttle opening is not fully closed, and after a first set time has elapsed if the throttle opening is fully closed.

The clutch is applied by strengthening its application force if the stop state of the vehicle is not detected when the clutch is released and if the engine RPM exceeds the end engine RPM.

The fluid pressure control unit has a manual valve, a pressure regulating valve device, and a changeover valve device. The electronic control unit controls the changeover valve device and the pressure regulating valve device.
