    • In an envelope rotation type X-ray tube apparatus 1, a cathode 5 releases electrons, and the electrons released from the cathode 5 are deflected by deflection coils 6. A target 7 generates X-rays by being bombarded with the electrons deflected by the deflection coils 6. Consequently, the electrons are inhibited from bombarding on areas of the target 7 outward of the area F and an envelope 2. This can prevent damage to the envelope 2.
