    • The invention relates to a centrifugal pump with a multistage design. Each stage of said centrifugal pump comprises a one-piece or multipiece housing and an impeller that is disposed therein. The pump stages are arranged between terminal pieces of inlets and outlets while being retained therebetween by means of connecting means so as to be connected to flow-guiding systems. All impellers are positioned on a pump shaft that is supported within at least two pump bearings. One end of said pump shaft is provided with a device for receiving a connecting means of a drive unit while outer support means are disposed at a mounting point in the area of the terminal pieces in order to fasten the centrifugal pump. The pump shaft (3) is supported within two pump bearings (11, 12), the maximum distance (LL) between the facing sides of said two pump bearings (11, 12) being smaller than or equal to a minimum structural stage height (LM) multiplied by the number of pump stages (2.1 - 2.5) minus 1.
