摘要： The composite material comprises a biocompatible titanium (Ti) or biocompatible Ti alloy, and biodegradable component, which is intended to at least partially desorb in vivo in contact with human tissue and which has an Young's elastic modulus lower than used Ti or Ti alloy. The material is prepared from a mixture of the particles of Ti or Ti alloy and the particles of the biodegradable component, wherein the biodegradable component, in particular magnesium (Mg), is dispersed throughout a volume of the material and occupies 2 to 20 volumic % in the material. The biodegradable component is present in a bearing Ti or Ti alloy structure in the form of filaments oriented along an extrusion axis. A manufacturing process comprises fabrication of powders, mechanical blending of powders to a homogeneous mixture and a subsequent extrusion at a temperature from 300 °C to 640 °C. The components are consolidated to a common mass, wherein during a consolidation the biodegradable component is formed into filaments oriented along an extrusion direction. Prior heated and extrusion the powder mixture may be precompacted in order to reach acceptable handling strength and cohesion.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a medical device, specifically a prosthesis which utilizes a novel class of blends between biodegradable polymers and bioceramics for medical device applications allowing one to capitalize on the biodegradable nature of these two distinct materials while enhancing the strength of these devices through the addition of various amounts of bioactive ceramic and glasses to biodegradable polymers. The blend may be fabricated into a medical device such as a stent or a distal protection device, and may incorporate various agents to enhance radioapacity and/or pharmacological function. In addition, the blend may be used as a coating to a medical device.
In one embodiment a method to fabricate a stent or distal protection device comprises the steps of:
blending a biodegradable polymer solution with bioactive ceramic particles to create a material; and either
forming said material into a desired shape for a stent or a distal protection device application; or
applying said material as a coating material to encapsulate a stent or distal protection device.

The medical device has a coating layer on its surface. The coating layer includes a metal having a plurality of pores and a biologically active material dispersed in the pores. The pores are connected to the outer surface of the coating layer. The coating layer may be formed by applying a coating composition comprising two or more metals (such as gold and silver) to the surface of the medical device and removing one of the metals to form the porous coating layer. This layer of the disclosed medical device has an increased surface area, and, thus, can be loaded with a greater amount of biologically active material than a medical device without such coating.
