    • An inexpensive magnetic data erasing device having an improved security is realized in a simple structure. The device comprises a power supply circuit section (2), an accommodating section accommodating a magnetic recording medium or an apparatus incorporating a magnetic recording medium, and a primary coil (15) and a secondary coil (17) both wound around the outer peripheral portion of the accommodating section. The primary coil (15) is connected to the power supply circuit section (2) and the secondary coil (17) is short-circuited. The power supply circuit section has a capacitor and a charging circuit for charging the capacitor and discharges the electric charge stored in the capacitor via the primary coil. The primary coil (15) is excited by the current flowed from the power supply circuit section (2) and thereby an induced current is generated in the secondary coil (17). An alternate magnetic field is generated by the interaction between the primary coil (15) and secondary coil (17). The alternate magnetic field demagnetizes the magnetic recording medium and erases the magnetic data recorded on the magnetic recording medium.
