摘要： The present invention provides new dental care products comprising self-assembling peptides that are capable of undergoing self-assembly at a certain pH for use in dental care, e.g. preventing and/or treating a tooth lesion such as a caries lesion, remineralising a tooth surface or increasing smoothness or shine, or for increasing hardness of a tooth surface. The present invention provides dental care products such as chewing gum, toffees or toothpaste, in which the peptides are present in monomeric form for a prolonged period after application into the oral cavity, thereby enabling non-targeted treatment of a plurality of teeth, independent of the diagnosis of an active lesion. Products of the invention are useful for animals and humans.

The product also comprises a fluorophore, which may be a fluorescent amino acid residue of the protein matrix. 摘要： An artificial tooth which is suitable as a caries model. The tooth comprises bonded artificial enamel and artificial dentin, which both comprise calcium phosphate, preferably, pressed calcium phosphate, and are similar in their characteristics to natural human enamel and dentin, respectively. The calcium phosphate preferably is hydroxyapatite. The artificial enamel is preferably sintered after pressing. The invention also relates to use of said artificial tooth for inducing a caries lesion or for experimental prevention and/or treatment of a caries lesion, e.g., by remineralisation. The tooth may also be used for treatment or prevention of a tooth disease such as a caries lesion, preferably by drilling, remineralisation, varnishing and/or filling a lesion. This can be done, e.g., for practice, educational or scientific purposes. Methods of generating, preventing and/or treating a caries lesion in the artificial tooth are also subject matter of the invention.

The dental care product is an essentially solid product selected from the group consisting of chewing gum, soft chew, toffee, gelatin gum, chewy candy, chew toy, lozenge. Preferably, it is a chewy product. The dental care product is not abrasive. The dental care product is useful for reducing or preventing (further) demineralisation of a tooth surface of a subject with demineralised teeth, e.g., or a subject with xerostomia, hyopsalivation, bruxism, gastroesophageal reflux disease, dentine hypersensitivity and/or tooth erosion. Preferably, it is also useful for cleaning the tooth surface. Products of the invention are useful for animals and humans. The invention also provides a process for preparing the dental care products of the invention. The invention enables non-targeted treatment of a plurality of teeth, and it is independent of the diagnosis of caries.
