摘要： Convertible orthodontic brackets (100) with a selectively removable labial web (112) are formed by machining. A circular pilot hole is formed so as to extend mesially-distally through the body of the orthodontic bracket (100). One or more shaping broaches are then pushed or pulled through the pilot hole so as to form a desired rectangularly-shaped arch wire hole (106) within the orthodontic bracket body (104). The area surrounding the labial web cover (112) is also machined to form first and second connecting web regions (114, 116) of reduced cross-sectional thickness on either side of the labial web cover (112). Manufacture by machining allows stronger more dense metals to be employed compared to manufacturing by metal injection molding.

摘要： Two-part resin-reinforced cement compositions, kits, and related methods are used for bonding a dental prosthetic appliance to a tooth. A first part includes an amine activator component and a zinc oxide reactive filler, while a second part includes a polymerization initiator (e.g., benzoyl peroxide) and a polymerizable component having a structure including at least one acrylate or methacrylate group at one end and a carboxylic acid group at another end. A temporary cement composition advantageously exhibits reduced compressive and/or bonding strength relative to permanent cement compositions, which provides sufficient strength to facilitate normal use of the teeth while the provisional appliance is in use, while also facilitating easy removal of the provisional appliance for replacement with a permanent appliance at a later time.

摘要： Injection needle devices are disclosed for administering a local anesthetic into tough, dense ligamentary tissue surrounding a tooth. The injection needle is a two- part needle (104) that includes a proximal needle portion (106) formed of metal, ceramic or rigid plastic and a distal needle portion (108) formed of ceramic or hardened metal. The distal penetrating needle portion (108) has an exposed length not more than about 8 mm, and a maximum outside diameter of about 25 gauge. At the transition between the proximal needle portion (106) and the distal needle portion (108) there can be an abrupt stop surface (110) for limiting penetration through tissue. Alternatively, the proximal needle portion (106) can have a tapered surface that permits penetration of the tapered surface into tissue. The injection needle device is designed to minimize pain and prevent buckling of the distal needle portion (108).

摘要： A dental treatment system comprises membrane treatment tray that is self-conforming to a person's own teeth when used with a sticky dental treatment composition and a support skeleton. The support skeleton maintains the flexible membrane tray in the form of tray prior to placing the tray over a person's teeth. A sticky viscous composition is either provided in or applied to the membrane tray, and then the treatment system is placed so as to position the membrane tray over the upper or lower teeth of the person. The support skeleton (internal or external) is separated from the membrane tray so that just the membrane tray remains over the person's teeth during the desired dental treatment. The sticky viscous composition holds the membrane tray against the teeth and helps it to at least partially conform to the shape of the teeth. The membrane dental tray is useful for teeth bleaching and other dental treatments known in the art.
