    • The invention relates to a pallet container (10) comprising a thin-walled inner container (12), preferably consisting of a thermoplastic plastic, for storing and transporting liquid or free-flowing filling materials, a tubular framework of metal bars, which closely surrounds the plastic container (12) and acts as a support shell (14) and a base pallet (16), on which the plastic container (12) rests and to which the support shell (14) is connected in a fixed manner. In order to receive official certification, the pallet container (10) must undergo various certification tests, such as a compression pressure test, interior pressure test or a drop test. During the drop test, the vertical lattice bars (20) are often wrenched out of or shear away from their anchorage on the base pallet (16). According to the invention, to prevent such detrimental effects, the tubular bars (18, 20) of the support shell (14) are provided with specific features in the event of the container falling, said features allowing a plastic deformation of the support shell (14) at specific predeterminable points, whilst preventing the individual tubular bars (20) from shearing or being wrenched out of their anchorage. According to one embodiment of the invention, the features allowing the plastic deformation of the support shell take the form of a flexure point coupled with a reduced cross-section of the bars.

    • The invention relates to a rolling machine for working a metal container having a longitudinal seam, especially a sheet steel container, in which a cylindrical body is bent out of a flat metal plate and the adjacent edges of the cylindrical body can be welded to one another, after which a discoid underside and, optionally, a corresponding top side are welded to the cylindrical body (=intermediate product) in order to form a closed container or a container which is open at the top. The problem posed by this method is that the inner welded seam edge is often depicted as the cause of early rust formation which results in the contamination of the filling item. According to the invention, the rolling process is carried out in a continuous rolling machine (18) in which a body (12) is loaded into the one station (=loading position A) and a finished body (12) is simultaneously unloaded in the other station (=unloading position B). To this end, the top inner roller supporting part (26) is centrally mounted. During the rolling process, the rolling device is mounted on the exterior. The distinctive feature of the continuous rolling machine (18) is in the, so to speak, 'floating in an alternating manner' bearing of the top roller supporting part, i.e. it is equipped with an alternating locking device or fixing bearing which is placed centrally and on the exterior.

    • The invention concerns a barrel (10) with a lid (14) and clamping ring closure (16). The lid (14) comprises between a flat lid plate (18) and the outer lid edge (20) a peripheral groove (30), and is equipped with at least one lateral plug hollow or plug-hole opening (34, 44). If the barrel falls, the regions around the plug hollow (34, 44) are most at risk of breakage and it is there that the lid (14) has the greatest tendency to come out of the clamping ring (16), resulting in leakages. The object of the invention is to improve leaktightness in cases of extreme stress of a lidded barrel (10) which is in particular also suitable or permissible for holding hazardous fluids so that the stress can be relieved in the region about the plug hollow (34, 44) in the lid (14) in the event of overstressing (if the barrel falls). To that end, appropriate means are provided between the lower-lying plug hollow (34, 44) and the upper edge (32) of the downwardly open, outer U-shaped edge (20) of the lid (14). These means are such that the radial expansion lengths - measured between the mid-point of the lid and the upper edge (32) of the U-shaped lid edge (20) - of this lid region or segment are extended in comparison with the adjacent lid regions or segments outside the plug hollow (34, 44).

    • The present invention concerns a cylindrical blow-moulded barrel (10) (wide mouthed drum) with a barrel lid (12) and a clamping ring closure (14). Barrels with lids as known hitherto have a relatively low ability to withstand falls and are therefore not very suitable for holding liquids. The particular design of the barrel lid (12) and of the edge (28) of the barrel mouth and the way in which individual components are made to fit one another facilitate handling of the proposed barrel (10) when filled using the standard barrel-gripping tool (parrot's bill) used throughout industry for modern plastic L-ring plugged barrels or standard steel plugged barrels. The resulting improvement in the barrel's ability to withstand falls makes it especially suitable for holding liquids, since it does not leak even after falling relatively large distances.
