摘要： A method of manufacturing endodontic files (10) involves a chemical milling process to yield endodontic files having a desired taper. The process involves the steps of (a) providing a metallic rod (12) having a cutting portion (18) with a polygonal cross section; (b) torsioning the rod so as to form helical cutting surfaces (20) in the cutting portion of the metallic rod; and (c) chemically milling the cutting portion of the rod so as to taper the cutting portion. The rod may be formed of any desirable metallic material, for example stainless steel or a nickel-titanium alloy.

摘要： Pre-shaped, non-custom dental trays are either preloaded with a dental treatment composition (e.g., in the form of a gel) or filled with a dental treatment composition just prior to placement over a person's teeth. The pre-shaped dental tray is thin and flexible, which allows it to be placed over a person's teeth and then approximately conform to the person's teeth. The pre-shaped, non-custom dental trays can therefore perform similar to a customized tray but without having to go through the more lengthy customization procedure. According to one embodiment, a pre-shaped dental tray can be pre-loaded with a dental treatment composition and stored within a sealed packaging container. Alternatively, it can be sold by itself or in combination with a treatment composition that a user can load into the dental tray. The tray can be manufactured by vacuum forming polymeric sheet material over a template.

摘要： Sealing and filling compositions for use in filling and/or sealing a root canal. The sealer and filler compositions include a polymerizable material that shrinks when polymerized. The composition also includes a gas releasing component that at least partially offsets the shrinkage caused by polymerization of the polymerizable material. The gas releasing component offsets polymerization shrinkage by creating tiny gas bubbles in the polymeric material, which causes expansion. The gas releasing component can be an acid and a base such as citric acid and sodium bicarbonate, which when mixed give off carbon dioxide. The composition can also include a dispersing agent to disperse the gas bubbles throughout the composition.

摘要： Dental bleaching systems that include a bleaching component and a neutralizing component which, when mixed together, yield a mixed composition having a desired bleaching activity and gel properties. The bleaching composition includes a suitable bleaching agent, such as aqueous hydrogen peroxide, in a concentration of about 3 % to about 95 % by weight of the bleaching composition component. The neutralizing component includes a strong particulate base mixed with a polymeric thickening agent. The neutralizing component is substantially water-free to prevent destruction of the gelling capability of the thickening agent by the base prior to formation of the mixed composition. The particulate base may include oxides, hydroxides or carbonates of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals. Maintaining the bleaching agent and neutralizing agent in separate components provides increased stability of both the bleaching agent and gelling (thickening) agent during storage and transport.

摘要： Medicament compositions are in the shape of a dental tray or tray-like configuration, optionally in combination with a protective barrier layer. Shaped medicament compositions comprise a substantially solid medicament layer that has increased adhesiveness to teeth and/or gingiva when moistened with saliva or water. The shape of the medicament composition facilitates placement of the composition over a person's teeth and/or gingiva with substantially less manipulation compared to the use of initially flat strips. The substantially solid medicament composition becomes more adhesive when moistened with saliva or water, yet remains intact and coherent after the medicament composition is placed over a person's teeth and/or gingiva, particularly when used in combination with a moisture-resistant barrier. The result is that the moistened medicament composition is able to reliably adhere against a user's teeth and/or gingiva during a treatment procedure.
