    • A clutch outer (15) has a cylindrical portion (15a), and slits (38) defined in the cylindrical portion at a plurality of points circumferentially equally spaced apart from one another to extend in an axial direction of the cylindrical portion so that engagement claws on outer peripheries of a plurality of friction plates are slidably engaged into the slits (38). Each of the slits includes a wide portion (38a) which is defined on the side of an inner periphery of the cylindrical portion and into which the engagement claws (17a) are engaged, and a narrow portion (38b) defined on the side of an outer periphery of the cylindrical portion with a width in a circumferential direction of the cylindrical portion being smaller than that of the wide portion. The wide portion and the narrow portion are connected to each other through a step (38c) facing a radially inward direction of the cylindrical portion. A draft for the wide portion during die-casting is set at a value smaller than a draft for the narrow portion, and a die-parting face in the die-casting is established on the side of the outer periphery of the cylindrical portion. Thus, it is possible to prevent a galling in a product and a striking sound as well as to minimize the number of the slits.

    • The apparatus of the invention is an injection molding apparatus of a type adapted to cool a molten metal under shearing by an extrusion screw (3) in a substantially vertical chamber (2) into a semi-solidified slurry (7) and then inject the semi-solidified slurry discharged from a discharge port at the lower end of a channel into molding plates, in which a clamping device is adapted to open or close a movable plate (26) relative to a stationary plate (24) in the horizontal direction, and a connection member having, at the inside, a vertical first channel (15) and a second channel (16) extending in the horizontal direction from the lower end of the first channel and in communication with the stationary plate is connected to the discharge port at the lower end of the chamber. Since this can inject and mold light metal molding products of high quality with less pore or shrinkage without excessively enlarging the size for the height of the apparatus, casting products of high quality can be obtained at a reduced cost by injection molding.

    • In a semi-molten metal injection molding method of producing a thick molded article by injecting a semi-molten melt M of a magnesium alloy, in a semi-melting state, into a cavity 13 of a mold 11 through a product gate 17, characterized in that it is made possible to obtain a high-quality thick molded article free from internal defects. A solid fraction of the semi-molten melt M is set to not less than 10%, and more preferably within a range of 40 to 80%. A sectional area Sg of a product gate portion of the thick molded article corresponding to the product gate 17 is set to not less than 0.1 times a sectional area Sp in the vicinity of the product gate 17 in the product portion corresponding to the cavity 13. Furthermore, a product gate velocity Vg mm/s of the semi-molten melt M, a sectional area Sg mm 2 of the product gate portion of the thick molded article and a volume Vp mm 3 of the product portion are set so as to satisfy the following relationships: Vg ≦ 8.0 × 104 ;and, Vg × Sg/Vp ≧ 10.
