    • A connector has a first connector and a second connector. The first connector has a pair of left and right shutter members at its left and right side ends. Each of the left and right shutter members has an eject portion which presses the second connector to separate the first and second connectors in accordance with a pivotal movement of the shutter member.     • A controlled impedance connector assembly includes a receptacle adapted for mounting on a printed circuit board (PCB) and for mating reception of a plug which carries terminal contacts of a plurality of coaxial cable leads. A honeycomb grounding block is mounted in the plug to engageably receive the outer conductor of each coaxial terminal, the inner conductive sleeve of each coaxial terminal being electrically coupled to a signal lead by a first contact member. Signal pin contacts within the receptacle and electrically coupled with the PCB are electrically coupled with each inner conductive sleeve when the plug is inserted into the receptacle. Likewise, ground pin contacts within the receptacle and electrically coupled with the PCB have second and third spaced resilient contact members, respectively, engaging the grounding block at distances farther from and nearer to the PCB than the first contact members. Within each coaxial terminal, air is a primary dielectric between the outer diameter of the signal lead and the inner diameter of the ground lead and the distance between the two is controlled to thereby maintain a substantially uniform impendance in the region of the connector matched to that of the coaxial lead. The signal and ground pin contacts may be pre-assembled in a holding block for shipping enabling ready assembly into the receptacle and, thereafter, connection to the PCB at the time the connector assembly is being installed. The plug is of a sturdy clam shell design, and reusable zipper-type tubing is used as a jacket to protectively enclose the coaxial cable leads in a bundle as they extend away from the plug.

    • An electrical shielding arrangement is provided for interconnected printed circuit boards through an electrical connector (e.g. edge connector). One of the boards has the edge connector secured to it and includes a metal ground plane and a plated through hole which extends through the board and which makes effective contact with the metal ground plane. The plated through hole receives as a press fit therein a metal fixing pin or stud of compliant metal which extends from the base of the connector body and the top end of which is positioned for making electrical contact with a metal ground plane included in a printed circuit board the edge of which is received by a cavity provided in the connector body. The connector has spring contacts which make electrical contact with contact pads or the like at or near the edge of the inserted board.

    • A connector assembly which is adapted to be incorpo­rated in an electronic device and which includes a spring connector (2 or 12) having a spring contact (4 or 12a) of a plunger type or of a spring leaf type. The spring leaf type connector (12) includes, in addition to the leaf spring (12b), a terminal pin (14), a coil spring (15) and a mounting rib (16). The mounting rib (16) holds the leaf spring (12b) with the coil spring (15) pressing the leaf spring (12b) against the mounting rib (16). The connector assembly having either type or both the types of spring connector may suitably be incorporated in an electronic device equipped with a printed circuit board or a power supply terminal.

    • A high density connector assembly for an IC chip carrier (10) includes a stack of spacer plates (30) having apertures (32) which form chambers for holding planar contact members (22) therein. The stack of spacer plates (30) are sandwiched between a lower reference plate (34) and an upper reference plate (36) which have precisely located apertures (42, 44) communicating with the chambers for precisely positioning contact portions of the contact members (22) with respect to contact pads (14, 18) on the IC chip module (10) and a printed circuit board (12). The plates (30, 34, 36) are preferably formed of a dielectric coated metal material to provide a ground shield around the contact members (22) to prevent cross talk therebetween.
