摘要： The present invention is a burner system that allows ‘quasi continuous burning’ of fluids at very high temperatures by using controlled continuous pulsing explosions or detonations instead of continuous flow and thus creating pulsing pressure waves that can be easily utilised for increasing heat exchanger efficiency. After initiation the explosions or detonations are maintained by use of infrared radiation. The pulsed explosions or detonations send their shock waves directly onto the heat exchanger walls thus introducing a bigger part of energy into the heat exchanger wall then would be possible with any other method of heat exchange. In addition the kinetic energy of the negative acceleration of the mass in the explosion or detonation wave is added as additional heat introduced into the heat exchanger walls.

摘要： Methods and systems for de-stabilizing foam produced in submerged combustion melters. A molten mass of glass and bubbles is flowed into an apparatus downstream of a submerged combustion melter. The downstream apparatus includes a floor, a roof and a wall connecting the floor and roof, but is devoid of submerged combustion burners and other components that would increase turbulence of the molten mass. The molten mass has foam on at least a portion of a top surface of the molten mass. Certain methods include imposing a de-stabilizing force directly to the foam or to the molten mass and foam, where the de-stabilizing force may be a vibratory force, an acoustic wave force, a particulate-based force, or a non-particulate-based mechanical force. Systems for carrying out the methods are described.

摘要： Various processes and systems are disclosed for converting carbonaceous materials into a product gas stream. For instance, the product gas stream may be endothermically converted to a gas through a steam reforming process. The present invention is directed to various methods and systems for increasing throughput and efficiency of the system. Further, the present invention is also directed to sulfur removal methods and systems from a gas stream. A thermo-chemical apparatus (10) is capable of endothermically converting a carbonaceous material into a product gas stream. Apparatus (10) includes a fluidized bed (14) which is indirectly heated by one or more combustion devices (12). Fluid bed apparatus (10) is provided with one or more material introduction ports (16) and also with port (28) near the bottom of the reactor for introduction of a fluidization medium which maybe steam, a gas, evaporated liquids other than steam or a combination thereof.

摘要： In a method and apparatus for controlling combustion characteristics in a pulse combustor (20), the mixing characteristics of the combustion reactants and the combustion products are controlled as a function of the inlet geometry (22) of the inlet of the combustion chamber. The inlet geometry (22) may be fixed or variable for controlling the mixing characteristics. A feedback loop (44, 48) may be employed to sense actual combustion characteristics, and then vary the inlet geometry (22) to obtain the desired mixing characteristics necessary to achieve the desired combustion characteristics. In a preferred embodiment, the mixing time of the combustion reactants and products scales with the ratio of the inlet orifice radius to the injection velocity. Various embodiments relate to the varying of the mass flow rate of reactants while holding the radius/velocity ratio constant.
