    • A resonant fly-back power converter (100) includes an input DC voltage source (170, 172), an input circuit including first (140) and second (130) switching elements, and a primary winding (110) connected to the input voltage source (170, 172) via the first (140) and second (130) switching elements, each connected between a terminal of the primary winding (110) and a terminal of th input voltage source (170, 172), the winding being operative to supply power to an output circuit (102) of the resonant fly-back power converter. The first switching element (140) is pulsed at a defined switching frequency and has an on -time operative to provide a defined charge level on the primary winding (110). The second switching element (130) is pulsed at the same switching frequency and in synchronization with the first switching element (140), such that an on- time of the second switching element (130) is extended with respect to the on- time of the first switching element (140). An LED lighting unit comprises a first printed circuit board formed with a pre-defined shape for attachment to a socket on which the resonant fly-back power converter is mounted, at least one second printed circuit board including at least one LED lighting module, and an attachment mechanism for physically and electrically connecting the first and second printed circuit board.

The system includes a primary dc transmission cable (8) that can be connected to an onshore AC/DC converter module (2). Each secondary subsea power distribution unit (18a, 18b) includes a DC/DC converter module (20a) having a modular topology with a series of interconnected DC/DC converter units. Respective secondary dc distribution networks (22a, 22b) are used to supply power to one or more subsea electrical loads.
