The coupling comprises a female part (1) and a nipple (2) insertable therein, as well a ball lock means (5, 6) for locking the nipple (2) in its inserted position in the female part (1). The female part (1) is provided with an axially displaceable valve element (9) which is moved from a closed position in contact with a valve seat (10) in the female part (1) to an open position spaced from the valve seat (10) when the nipple (2) is inserted into the female part (1). The invention is characterized in that at least one blocking means (14-16) is arranged in the female part (1) to block the nipple (2), when the ball lock means (5, 6) are released and the coupling is under pressure. In an intermediate position with the valve element (9) in contact with the valve seat (10) and the interior of the nipple (2) in communication with the surrounding atmosphere until the pressure in the nipple (2) has dropped below a predetermined level.

摘要： A dry disconnect coupling connects the transfer hose from a fuel oil storage tank and the fill pipe of a tanker truck to form a continuous flow path between the storage tank and the tanker truck. The coupling includes an adapter (20), a coupler (40), and means for returning fuel residue to the flow path. The adapter is attached to the fill pipe of the tanker truck on one end and to the coupler on the other end. The free end of the coupler is attached to the transfer hose from the storage tank. The adapter and the coupler each define a flow passageway there through which is sealed by a poppet valve having an end face. The fuel returning means includes a reservoir (70) for collecting fuel residue that accumulates on the end faces of the adapter and the coupler during transfer operations. In a preferred embodiment, the returning means includes a venturi vacuum for suctioning the fuel residue out of the reservoir and into the flow passageway defined by the coupler. In another preferred embodiment, the returning means includes aspirating and pumping means for suctioning the fuel residue out of the reservoir into a holding chamber, and then pumping the fuel residue out of the holding chamber into the flow passageway defined by the coupler.

摘要： A quick acting coupling (10) for interconnecting tubular members such as hoses which is particularly useful with fire fighting equipment. The device has a body member (24) for attachment to one of a pair of tubular members. The body member distally carries a plurality of segmented jaws (12) which are pivotally mounted thereon to permit movement between radially expanded and contracted positions. The outer surfaces of the jaws have flat grooves having leading and trailing cam surfaces. The jaws are surrounded by a cam guide ring (14) that is mounted for limited axial displacement on the assembly of jaws with cam guides of mating contour. The cam guide surfaces are beveled, planar surfaces and are engaged by the cam guides of the cam ring in both the opened and closed positions so that axial movement of the cam ring positively expands and contracts the segmented jaws.
