    • An object of this invention is to correct the nonuniformity between a plurality of image sensing regions in real time and cope with even dynamic variations such as temperature variations or variations over time. The correction coefficient determination device determines the correction coefficient by excluding an object-dependent level difference component in which the level difference between the plurality of image sensing signals exceeds a predetermined level difference. The correction coefficient determination device supplies the determined correction coefficient to the level adjustment devices to perform adjustment so as to reduce the level difference between the image sensing signals.

    • An image-capturing apparatus, in which solid-state image-capturing elements having a large number of pixels are used, capable of suitably performing image-quality correction on a captured image. In a monitor reading mode, a camera system LSI (6) detects the read image signal which is read by thinning out pixels by an image-capturing device (3). Based on the detected data, control values for image-quality correction are computed in a microcomputer (9), and the camera system LSI (6) performs an image-quality correction process on the image signal based on these control values. When the image-capturing device shifts to a capture reading mode, the camera system LSI (6) temporarily stores the image signal, in which all the pixels are read, in the image memory (7), thereafter reads the image signal and detects it. The microcomputer (9) computes a control value on the basis of this detected data and the detected data in the previously used monitor reading mode. Thereafter, the camera system LSI (6) reads the image signal again, and performs an image-quality correction process on the basis of the control values by the microcomputer (9).

    • Image quality degrading components can be eliminated from a contour correction signal of high frequency region that is used for contour correction. A filtering section extracts a high frequency region signal from a signal inputted from a VLPF. A mask generating section generates a mask by masking image quality degrading components (e.g., ringing components) contained in the extracted signal. A gain factor generating section generates a gain factor that eliminates image quality degrading components on the basis of the mask. A multiplier multiplies the extracted signal by the gain factor, and outputs an adder a resultant signal (horizontal contour correction signal free from the image quality degrading components). Since the horizontal contour correction signal is generated by eliminating the image quality degrading components from the high frequency region signal, the occurrence of ringing and the like can be suppressed to ensure excellent image quality.

    • The present invention provides a camera shake correction device enabled to quickly correct a camera shake. This device has a sensor for detecting movement of a camera, a high-pass filter, an amplifier, an A/D converter, a camera-shake/pan/tilt detection unit, and a switching unit. The filter includes a circuit having a capacitor and a resistor connected in series. A reference voltage is inputted to a common ground terminal of the circuit. An output signal of the sensor is amplified by the amplifier. The A/D converter converts the amplified signal into a digital value. The detection unit detects a camera shake or panning/tilting according to the digital value. When detected, the switching unit turns on a switch connected to the resistor so as to discharge the capacitor to the reference voltage.
