摘要： A computer workstation receives multiple audio input streams over a network in an audio conference. The audio input streams are kept separate by storing them in different queues. Digital samples from each of the queues are transferred to an audio adapter card 28 for output. A digital signal processor 46 on the audio adapter card multiplies each audio stream by its own weighting parameter, before summing the audio streams together for output. Thus the relative volume of each of the audio output streams can be controlled. For each block of audio data, the volume is calculated and displayed to the user, allowing the user to see the volume in each audio input stream independently. The user is also provided with volume control for each audio input stream, which effectively adjusts the weighting parameter, thereby allowing the user to alter the relative volumes of each speaker in the conference.

摘要： The invention relates to a method aiming at dynamic division of the radio capacity in a TDMA system dynamically between packet radio service and circuit switched service. According to the invention, some basic number of time slots are reserved for packet radio service and the rest are reserved for circuit switched service. When the traffic requirement of packet radio service increases, information regarding this is obtained by means of a request from a mobile station or through traffic measurement at the base transceiver station. This information is used as a criterion in allocating more time slots to packet radio service.

摘要： According to the present invention, methods and apparatus for updating reduction ratios are provided. An input bit sequence can be altered to provide modified output bit sequence. The input bit sequence may represent information in a portion of data such as a video sequence, a picture, or an audio stream. In one example, the bit sequence is an MPEG-2 video sequence. The input bit sequence is altered using a reduction ratio to provide a modified output bit sequence. The reduction ratio can be continually updated using rate control information to achieve a target reduction ratio for the input bit sequence.

摘要： The invention relates to an alarm which signals an incident (theft) from one mobile telephone to another, the operation of which is not interrupted even if the power supply and telephone line are cut. The invention can be used remotely to perform the following functions independently: alert the police personally, activate the panic siren and listen to ambient noise in every room. If the incident occurs in a vehicle, the inventive alarm silently signals the incident via the user's mobile telephone. In this way, the user is informed immediately of the incident and can disconnect the current in the vehicle, thereby immobilising the vehicle during the incident, activate the panic siren and listen for any type of ambient noise inside the vehicle interior. Moreover, the user can also disconnect the current and stop the vehicle immediately. The wireless telephony-operated alarm system offers improvements in relation to standard, currently-available alarms in that it requires no electricity or additional system for operation, thereby affording more benefits than other available alarms.
