    • A locking device (20) is placed on an upper surface of housing (2) of connector (1) in a temporary retained state. The locking device (20) has a pair of beams (78) extending downward obliquely to each other and having notches (78a) in surfaces facing each other. The notches have shoulders which engage against a wedge-shaped rib (90) of the housing (2); the shape of the notches (78a) corresponds to the shape of the rib (90). Therefore, the locking device (20) cannot be inserted in the housing even by force. When mating connector (200) is coupled with connector (1), rib (230) spreads the beams (78) releasing the engagement between the notches (78a) and the rib (90), thus making it possible to insert the locking device (20) to a fully-engaged position.

    • A smart card connector for receiving a smart card comprises a spring switch to detect full insertion of the smart card. The spring switch includes a first spring contact and a second spring contact. The first spring contact comprises a body portion, a resilient contact portion and a fixing portion. The second spring contact comprises a body plate and a fixing portion. When a smart card is inserted the connector, the resilient contact portion of the first spring contact is deflected rearward to contact the second spring contact. Thus, force exerted on the contact portion of the first spring contact is transmitted to the fixing portion of the first spring contact with small deformation.

    • An electrical connector assembly of the present invention comprises (1) a socket for supporting two pairs of first electrical connector elements in proximity; (2) a plug for supporting two pairs of second electrical connector elements, which are to be engaged with the two pairs of first electrical connector elements, respectively; (3) two short-circuit elements, fitted in the socket, for electrically short-circuit the two pairs of first electrical connector elements, respectively; and (4) a locking element which is locked at a first position with respect to the plug and, when the plug is engaged in the socket, becomes movable to a second position at which the locking element forces the two short-circuit elements to move back to their non-short-circuit positions simultaneously. This can provide an electrical connector assembly having a locking part that can provide a drastically improved working efficiency and thus provide excellent connection workability even when two pairs of electrical contacts are connected with each other.

    • A switching coax jack module (10) contains two removable jacks (14, 14′). The jack module (10) includes a sheet metal housing (12) with a front wall (22) and a rear wall (24). An interior wall structure (20) within the housing (12) defines two recesses (34, 34′) within the housing (12) recessed from and open through the front wall (22). The interior wall structure (20) carries four sliding coax connectors (60a, 61a, 60a′, 61a′) with two of the four exposed within each of the recesses (34, 34′). Coax cables (60b, 61b, 60b′, 61b′) contained within the housing connect each of the four sliding coax connectors with individual ones of coax connectors (60, 61, 60′, 61′) mounted on the rear wall (24) and exposed to an exterior of the housing (12). Two switching jacks (14, 14′) containing switching components (125) are slidably received within the recesses (34, 34′). Sliding connectors (112, 113) mate with the housing sliding connectors (60a, 61a, 60a′, 61a′). Ports (121, 122, 123) on the front of the jacks (14, 14′) are exposed through the forward wall (22). Arcuate edges (104, 106) of the jacks are complimentarily shaped to arcuate grooves (84) on the interior wall structure (20) to guide the jacks into the recesses with the jack sliding connectors mating with the housing sliding connectors. The jacks and recesses are symmetrically shaped to permit identically constructed jacks to be inserted into either recess by rotating a jack about its longitudinal axis.

    • A low profile, two pole, plunger-type safety switch and connector assembly includes a switch housing and switch components are supported within the housing interior region. An actuator extends exteriorly though the housing opening and is moveable along a linear path of travel between two positions, one position of the actuator corresponding to an undepressed position and a second position of the actuator corresponding to a depressed position. Terminals of the switch assembly terminate in conductive male contacts extending through a side wall of the switch housing substantially perpendicular to the path of travel of the actuator. The connector assembly includes a connector housing supporting four female terminals sized to snugly receive respective different ones of the four male contacts when the connector housing engages the switch housing. Extending arms of a flexible, electrically conductive shorting member contact a center two of the female terminals. When the connector is engaged with the switch housing a pair of beveled triangular shaped nubs extending from the switch housing contacts the shorting member arms and deflects them away from contact with the female terminals. When the connector is not engaged with the switch housing, the shorting member arms contact the two center female terminals creating a closed circuit condition in a circuit that the female terminals are electrically coupled to.
