    • The intention relates to an electrical switch (1) for electrical handheld tools such as drills, angle grinders, circular saws, routers, hedge trimmers or the like, having at least one contact system (3) which has a switching contact (4) which can be moved between two switch positions, namely between a switched-off position and a switched-on position for switching, and has a stationary contact (5) which interacts with the switching contact (4) in the switched-on position. The switch (1) has an operating member (6) which acts on the switching contact (4) for switching. A delay means (8) is located in the switch (1) and is operatively connected to the switching contact (4), in particular in the switched-on position, in order to delay the switching movement to at least one of the two switching positions. The delay means (8) and the operating member (6) are arranged on the same side of the contact system (3). Alternatively/-additionally, the operative connection between the delay means (8) and the switching contact (4) is reduced during the switching movement of the switching contact (4) to the other switching position, in particular to the switched-off position, such that the switching contact (4) moves to the other switch position essentially without any delay.

    • A braking circuit is proposed for an electric motor, especially for driving electric hand tools such as drills, angle grinders, hedge trimmers and the like, having a brake switch which consists of two changeover switches S1, S2. In the motor mode, a field winding (1) of the electric motor is connected to the supply voltage via the two changeover switches S1, S2 in series with the armature winding (5), so that a motor circuit is formed. In the braking mode, the field winding (1) forms a closed braking circuit with the armature winding (5), via the two changeover switches S1, S2. For this purpose, one changeover switch S1 is connected by means of one switching contact to that connection of the field winding (1) which is adjacent to the mains power supply and switches between a connection (2) to the supply voltage and a first connection to the braking circuit. The other changeover S2 is connected by means of one switching contact to the connection of the field winding (1) which is remote from the mains power supply and switches between the connection to the armature winding (5) and a second connection to the braking circuit. During the changeover from the motor mode to the braking mode, the two changeover switches S1, S2 open the motor circuit essentially synchronously and, subsequently, the switching contact of the changeover switch S1 which is close to the mains power supply is moved in a delayed manner with respect to the switching contact of the changeover switch S2 which is remote from the mains power supply, so that the braking circuit is later connected to the changeover switch S1 which is close to the mains power supply. During the changeover from the braking mode to the motor mode, both changeover switches S1, S2 open essentially synchronously and their switching contacts are moved without any delay, so that they essentially connect the motor circuit simultaneously.
