    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and highly rigid repetition lever of a grand piano which excels in its firmness and dimensional stability, thereby enabling a required action to be performed in a stable manner and improving performance of continuous striking of strings. SOLUTION: The repetition lever 4 of a grand piano lifts a hammer 30 after a string is struck, and is composed of a molded component of thermoplastic resins containing continuous fibers for reinforcement molded by a continuous fiber method. The repetition lever 4 has reduced cross-sectional parts 49, 50 and 54 for reducing its weight.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving repeated hitting performance of a piano. SOLUTION: A jack 18 used for an action mechanism of a piano is formed approximately like a letter L consisting of a big jack part 18a and a small jack part 18b, and especially, the large jack part 18a is smaller than the small jack part 18b in thickness in the row direction of the keys in a state in which the jack 10 is attached to the piano. Moreover, compared with the thickness of a small jack part 10b of a conventional jack 10, the thickness of the small jack 18b is smaller and further the width is also smaller. Thus, the jack 18 is reduced in weight but especially the small jack part 18b is reduced in weight. From the above, in the case that the jack 18 is attached to the action mechanism, a time required until the jack 18 returns from the state of having finished thrusting up a part of a struck string member up to the position permitting to thrust it again can be shortened.     • Improvements in player piano devices. Repetitive striking of a piano wire by a hammer head associated with a depressed piano key is accomplished by means of a rotating paddle that strikes a projecting portion of the hammer head attendant each revolution of the paddle.A foot pedal means activates and de-activates a power source that effects rotation of the paddles, there being as many paddles as there are hammer heads.The means for de-activating the power source also serves to stop the rotation of the paddles and positions the non-rotating paddles in non-interfering relationship with the projecting portion of the hammer heads so that the piano can be played conventionally when desired.
