To modify a document (105), the method includes the acts of reading a control sheet (405) having commands, reading a content sheet (407) having content (340), retrieving the document (105) using a command from the command sheet (350); and modifying the document using the control sheet (405) and the content sheet (350). The content sheet includes content of the document (105) and the control sheet (405) specifies the location of the content on the Web page. Either or both of the control sheet (405) and content sheet (407) may include print content.

    • A method of creating an image is disclosed. The image is formed by rendering and compositing at least a plurality of graphical objects whereby each of the objects has a predetermined outline. The method comprises the following steps. Firstly, dividing a space in which the outlines are defined into a plurality of regions whereby each of the regions is defined by at least one region outline. The region outline substantially follows at least one of the predetermined outlines or parts thereof and is substantially formed by segments of a virtual grid encompassing the space. Secondly, manipulating the regions to determine a plurality of further regions whereby each of the further regions has a corresponding compositing expression. Fourthly, classifying the further regions according to at least one attribute of the graphical objects within the further regions. Fifthly, modifying each of the corresponding compositing expressions according to a classification of each of the further regions to form an augmented compositing expression for each of the further regions. Finally, compositing the image using each of the augmented compositing expression.

    • A method and system (10) receives a digital source image (40) and brush size data. The source image (40) is blurred to generate a digital reference image. The brush size data includes a first record corresponding to a first size of a brush and a second record corresponding to a second size of the brush. The first size is different from the second size. The method and system (10) applies brush strokes, with the first record to be used for the brush, to a digital canvas image using the reference image. Then the brush strokes are applied, with the second record to be used for the brush, to the canvas image using the reference and working images. Thus, a final digital image having a hand-painted appearance is generated on the canvas image. Long curved brush strokes can also be used to generate the target image, which is aligned in a normal direction to image gradients. Furthermore the graphic artist may adjust parameters of the method and system (10) according to the present invention to vary the style of painting.
