    • A deflection yoke device includes a deflection yoke for deflecting electron beams in horizontal and vertical directions, the electron beams being emitted from an electron gun of a color cathode ray tube; coma correcting coils positioned on an electron gun side of the deflection yoke so as to be opposed to each other in such a manner that the electron beams pass therebetween; and a pair of cores around which the coma correcting coils are wound, wherein a sliding mechanism is further provided for allowing each of the coma correcting coils to be slidable with respect to the corresponding core. Therefore, a misconvergence can be corrected by a simplified configuration without reducing a sensitivity of the coma correcting coils.

    • A light-emitting color display system is provided having an optical sensor system in which a plurality of photosensors are directed towards the light source of the light-emitting color display system to provide outputs proportional to the light energy associated with each color. A processing system responds to the outputs over time with the initial outputs and provides a mechanism to correct color changes in the display system. The color light-emitting display system has a second plurality of photosensors directed away from said light-emitting color display system for providing outputs related to the different illuminants and allowing compensation of the light-emitting color display system for the illuminants.

    • A method and system for providing two-dimensional convergence correction for a color cathode ray tube (CRT) is disclosed. The CRT displays an input video signal comprising a stream of video scan lines which include red, green and blue color signals that are to be displayed on corresponding scan lines and subpixel locations of a display screen. The method and system include storing a plurality of scan lines from the video signal into a buffer. For a particular red, green and blue color signal, horizontal and vertical distortion of the red and blue subpixels in relation to a position of the green subpixel on the display screen are measured. Then, at least one math function is generated that mathematically represents the distortions. Finally, the math functions are applied to control circuitry to control timing of red and blue subpixels read from the frame buffer so that output of the red and blue subpixels are coincident with output of the green subpixel on the display screen.

    • A color image display device has an auxiliary means for compensating brightness simply and inexpensively by using an electron gun of a cathode ray tube. Brightness uniformity is improved in the image display device having a flat-type color cathode ray tube with a glass panel having a high wedge ratio and a low transmissibility. The color image display includes a panel housing a screen on an inner face thereof, a funnel engaged with the panel; an electron gun engaged with a neck portion of the funnel for emitting electron beams toward the screen, a deflection device for displaying an image by deflecting the electron beams emitted from the electron gun in horizontal and vertical directions with respect to the screen, and a cathode ray tube including a shadow mask aligned from the screen at a predetermined distance. The color image display device has an electron gun which includes a triode section having a cathode for generating electron beams, a grid electrode aligned to be adjacent to the cathode and an accelerating electrode aligned to be adjacent to the grid electrode. A video signal voltage is applied to the cathode, and a variable voltage is applied to the grid electrode or accelerating electrode.
