摘要： A system for accessing small items that are stored in a secure manner for controlled access thereto by access mode or access code, which system is based upon a series of modules having a plurality of storage cartridges therein, which modules are disposed in a box and a plurality of boxes are housed in a cabinet. The cabinet and specific cartridge are accessed by an access mode such as a coin, bill, credit card, access code as by keypad or computer generated among others. A signal is sent to a solenoid which impacts a latch which moves downwardly and releases from engagement with the cartridge. A latch spring returns the latch to its original position. An ejection spring kicks the cartridge forward for the user to gain access to the contents thereof. Reinsertion of the cartridge reverses the procedure to re-engage the latch with the cartridge's down hanging metal strip.

摘要： A product dispenser is provided that enables product to be released from an adhesive attachment and transition from the interior of the dispenser to the exterior of the dispenser using a single rotation motion. The dispenser comprises a product platform, product adhesively secured to a strip and a base. The product platform comprises an upper surface and a lower surface and an opening through the platform. The adhesive strip comprises two major surfaces, one of which is free of adhesive and one with adhesive located on at least a portion thereof. The base comprises an upper surface and a lower surface and an opening through the base. The adhesive strip is threaded through both the product platform opening and the base opening and one end of the strip is attached to the lower surface of the base. The product platform and the base are fitted together so as to be rotatable with respect to each other about a common axis, with the lower surface of the product platform facing the upper surface of the base. The adhesive strip is positioned so that the nonadhesive surface of the strip is in contact with the upper surface of the product platform. Product, such as zinc air cells, are adhesively attached to the adhesive surface of the strip. In the case of zinc air cells, the adhesive strip functions as a tab until the cells are ready to be detabbed for activation and use. Rotation of either the base or the product platform so as to create relative motion between the two structures will cause the product to advance toward the opening in the product platform as the adhesive strip moves through the opening in the product platform. Product is separated from the adhesive strip as the strip moves through the product platform opening. Continued rotation advances the released product from the interior of the dispenser to the exterior of the dispenser.

摘要： A product dispenser comprising a cover, a slidable push element, a base and a landing is provided. The cover and the base are rotatable with respect to each other about a common axis. The cover comprises a roof opening in which the push element slides in opposing directions, advancing product from the interior of the cover onto the landing. In a preferred embodiment, the dispenser houses miniature zinc air batteries, secured to the base using an adhesive platform. When a cell is advanced from the interior of the cover onto the landing, the cell is separated from the adhesive platform, allowing air to pass into the cell and the cell to be activated. The landing preferably comprises a magnet for releasably securing product. The dispenser is then used as an inserter for orienting and placing the product in position in a device. The product is not directly handled during its removal from the dispenser or during its insertion into a device. In the case of a zinc air cell, the cell is untabbed without any direct handling of tab material by the user, and the material functioning as a tab stays with the dispenser upon separation from the cell.

摘要： A falling object, such as a product falling from a magazine to a discharge chute of a vending machine, is detected using a rectangular light curtain having parallel sides. A plurality of light emitters are positioned along one side and a plurality of receptors are positioned along another side opposite the emitters. A timing circuit momentarily illuminates the emitters one at a time at a time while an electronic controller examines the outputs signal from all the receptors. Where one of the receptors fails to receive a signal from one of the emitters an object is presumed to have interrupted the signal. To work properly the electronic controller must complete a cycle of illuminating all the emitters within the time frame that a falling object interrupts the light curtain.

A product mover pushes a product through the front opening and into the vend space. A retaining device, mounted to the merchandiser near the front opening and positioned in a manner such that a top of the product being vended hits the retaining device during vending, prevents the product top from moving or pitching forward during a vending process. Consequently, the vended product falls freely into the delivery hopper without bridging the vending space. A single retaining device may be used for several columns in a single tray or individual retaining devices may be used for each column. The height of the retaining device can be adjusted as required for the type of product being vended in the columns. The retaining device may be rigidly or rotationally mounted to the merchandiser. Where a U-shaped retaining device is rotationally mounted to the merchandiser, the retaining device rotates forward when a product comes in contact with the retaining device before causing the product to rotate. The retaining device then rotates back into a vertical standby position so that the free fall of products from trays above the retaining device is not obstructed. A method for vending products is also disclosed.
