摘要： A liquid crystal color filter may include an infrared blocking dye integrated within the filter to prevent infrared radiation from adversely affecting the performance of the filter when used in an imaging system. The dye may be incorporated into a liquid crystal element in the filter or may be coated on components thereof. Suitable dyes are transmissive of light in the visible range and substantially absorbent of light in the infrared range from approximately 800 nm to 1200 nm in wavelength.

摘要： An object of the invention is to provide a high-contrast liquid crystal display apparatus which is excellent in display quality, with its substrates equally spaced with high accuracy. On a first and a second substrate are formed a color filter of three colors: red, green, and blue, electrodes for applying a voltage to a liquid crystal layer, orientation film layers for orienting liquid crystal, a pair of polarizing plates arranged in a crossed Nicol state, a TFT element, and a wire (not shown). The substrates are bonded together with spherical spacers interposed therebetween, thereby constituting the liquid crystal layer. Then, the spherical spacers are selectively placed in the color filter regions of red- and blue-color.

摘要： A light controlling apparatus comprises a GH cell and a polarizing plate. The polarizing plate is attached to an iris blade, and movable inside/outside the effective optical path of the light incident to the GH cell. The iris blades are driven by a motor not shown in the drawing to overlap each other, and at the time, the polarizing plate is moved inside the effective optical path to cover the aperture. If the brightness of an object increases more, the GH cell absorbs the light to control the light. Because the polarizing plate is movable outside the effective optical path of the light, the light is not absorbed by the polarizing plate, and the maximum transmittance of the light controlling apparatus is increased, therefore the contrast ratio is increased and the light quantity is maintained uniform.

摘要： An image observing apparatus is arranged to observe outside information from the outside and a display image displayed on an image display device via an optical combiner and via an eyepiece lens superimposed. The outside information and the display image are imaged so as to be superimposed on a surface of a spatial modulator having a two-dimensional pixel structure. Part or all of the outside information and display image is selected on an area basis by the spatial modulator. The outside information and image information thus selected is observed through the eyepiece lens.
