    • The invention concerns a splicing device for welding optical fibres in or closely against optical components (OBE), in particular optical fibre plugs. The splicing device comprises: an optical device for observing the ends of the optical fibres to be welded to one another; and two electrodes (E) which are spaced apart from each other and cause the optical fibres to be welded by striking an arc. Owing to a stepped arrangement of the electrodes (E) on parallel axes (EA) and spaced apart, the optical fibre ends to be welded can be observed in the welding position. The stepped arrangement of the electrodes (E) enables the optical fibres to be observed in the region of an optical fibre plug groove (NU) along a transverse axis, for example, and then welded together in the same position.
