    • A synchronizing arrangement in a planetary gear (1) has an axially movable ring gear (22) which for various gearchange positions can be coupled to either of two coupling rings (9, 16), situated on their respective sides of the planetary gear (1), via synchronising rings (14, 20) which belong to these coupling rings, are capable of limited rotation relative to the ring gear and have external locking teeth (30, 31) to prevent gear engagement before synchronisation is achieved. The ring gear (22) is provided with two grooves (26, 27) which run round its inside and each accommodate a ring-shaped locking device (28) for transferring axial force to the respective synchronising ring at the time of gear engagement. The respective locking device is also situated in an external groove (32, 33) in the relating synchronising ring and can be compressed in the radial direction.

    • A multiple-speed gearbox for a planer. The planer includes a cutterhead mounted on an input shaft, which is driven by an electric motor, and infeed and outfeed rollers, which are driven by an output shaft. The gearbox includes a first input gear rotatable by the input shaft and a first and second output gears mounted on and independently rotatable about the output shaft. The gearbox further includes a three-gear set having a middle gear, a first outer gear and a second outer gear rotatable with a common speed. The middle gear engages the first input gear, the first outer gear engages the first output gear, and the second outer gear engages the second output gear. An actuator is operably attached to the multiple-speed gearbox to selectively engage the output shaft with one of the first and second output gears when the actuator is moved in a first or second axial direction respectively.

    • An aim of the invention is to provide a double clutch transmission enabling shift actuation in multiple gear trains with a single actuator device. The time required for a gear ratio change should also be reduced, hereby improving comfort and operability. To this end, the invention provides that a gear ratio can be shifted with an actuating element through a shifting element and that in the shifted state of this gear ratio, the same actuating element can actuate at least one other shifting element in order to select other gear ratios. A neutral channel wide enough to allow the selection movement of an actuation element is advantageously retained in the shifted state of one or more gear ratios. A shifting element may follow an actuating element with a path hysteresis that is identical to or greater than the path of the shifting element between the neutral position and a final gear position. This can be achieved by making the width of the shifting opening equal to or greater than the sum of the selector finger width and the distance between the neutral position and the final gear positions of the shift fork or by providing play equal to or greater than the path of the shifting element between the neutral position and the final gear position, between the shifting element and the actuating element.
