    • A safety device provides quick and easy removal or separation of a part or assembly from a machine or installation base. The safety release fasteners that secure the part or assembly to the machine or installation base have interconnected sections that are releasable by simply tugging on the part or assembly to allow the sections to snap apart. The breaking of the fastener releases the part or assembly from the machine or installation base, thereby freeing from imminent danger the person, whose hair, clothing or limb may be caught. Axial separation of the fasteners prevent injury to a person or damage to a machine or installation base or to a part or assembly, such as when a large inanimate object is drawn into an intake of a machine or installation.

    • A clamping screw comprising a main body portion generally cylindrical in shape and having a length extending between a first end and a second end and an axis of rotation extending in the direction of the length. The main body portion comprises an outer surface having threads arranged along at least a portion of the length and an inner bore defining an opening at the second end of the main body portion. The clamping screw includes a head portion comprising a contacting surface, with the head portion being positioned adjacent the second end of the main body portion and being axially movable relative to the main body portion. A spring is provided to urge the head portion away from the main body portion in an axial direction. In a preferred embodiment, the inner bore extends along the entire length of the main body portion defining a first opening and a second opening at the respective ends of the main body portion. Releasably secured to the clamping head is a plunger that is axially movable within the inner bore and through the second end between a compressed position and an extended position. A spring engaging the plunger is included for providing a force to urge the plunger and clamping head away from the main body portion in an axial direction toward the extended position. Stop means is located within the inner bore at a location between the first end and the second end for providing a stationary contact surface for the resilient means.

    • An object is to provide a high strength screw in which a high strength steel material not used in the prior art is employed as the tapping screw or gib-head screw or bolt or the like, and moreover, which, by the administering of a carburization hardening process on the surface thereof, has high tensile stress and shear stress, and has high surface hardness, and which has, particularly in tapping screws, good male thread formability with respect to the foundation hole of the opposing member, and very good tightening and joining properties and durability. Another object of the present invention is to provide compatibility with a machine screw in such a way that, once the tapping screw has been removed from the opposing member, a machine screw can be screwed into the male thread formed by the tapping screw. A screw is formed from a screw material which comprises a high tensile steel, and a surface hardening process, in particular a continuous quenching gas carburization process, is performed on, at the least, the thread part to form a surface hardened layer of a depth in the range of 0.05 to 0.3 mm.
