    • A fuel delivery system which selectively controls two pressure sources to deliver fuel from a tank to the engine for consumption by the engine. The fuel system has a pair of fuel supply passages through which fuel is discharged from the fuel tank to a main fuel supply line for delivery to the engine. One fuel passage communicates with an outlet of an electric fuel pump disposed within the fuel tank. The second fuel passage permits fuel to flow out of the fuel tank into the main fuel supply line independently of the fuel pump within the tank. Preferably, a valve is disposed in the second fuel passage to selectively permit fuel flow through the second fuel passage. The fuel system also has a controller which selectively provides electric power to the fuel pump so that the fuel pump in the fuel tank operates only when it is needed to discharge fuel from the tank.

    • Gas metering system for an internal combustion engine. A gas pressure regulator is connected to a venturi located in the inlet of the internal combustion engine through a main adjusting screw being electrically adjustable. The control is provided in which engine rpm, load and mixture temperature are inputted. To provide for applicability for different types of engines and to obtain the ideal air fuel ratio for each operating condition, the control module of the adjustable main adjusting screw is provided with adjusting means. The surface area of the gas outflow openings in the venturi throat is the only required information for the control module to identify different types of engines and fuels and to adjust the gas flow automatically.

    • A vehicle fuel gas supply system includes a fuel line supplying a fuel gas to a gas engine, a shut-off valve and a pressure sensor disposed on said fuel line, and a control section. The pressure sensor is disposed closer to said gas engine in comparison with said shut-off valve. The control section closes the shut-off valve being opened, starts to count the time of a shut-off valve closing timer. Then, the control section opens the shut-off vale when the shut-off valve closing timer counts up, simultaneously therewith measures a pressure by the pressure sensor to store the pressure as an initial pressure, and starting to count the time of a diagnostic timer. Further, the control section measures a second pressure by the pressure sensor when the diagnostic timer counts up to store the second pressure as a final pressure value, and judges that the shut-off value is in a failure state when a pressure increase rate obtained from the initial pressure value and the final pressure value is smaller than a predetermined pressure increase rate threshold value.

    • A gaseous fuel adaptor for modifying an internal combustion engine having a liquid fuel carburetor. The carburetor has an air intake for receiving air to mix with a liquid fuel. The adaptor includes a body mounted over the carburetor air intake and a passageway having an inlet and an outlet formed in the body. Air enters the passageway through the inlet and air exits the passageway through the outlet into the carburetor air intake. A gaseous fuel feed port disposed between the passageway inlet and outlet feeds gaseous fuel into the passageway, and a butterfly valve disposed in the passageway between the gaseous fuel feed port and the passageway inlet meters air entering the passageway to mix with the gaseous fuel.

    • Two different fuels are injected into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. A main fuel is ignited by a pilot fuel that is more readily flammable than the main fuel. According to the method, load conditions on the engine are monitored and sets of conditions are defined to constitute low load conditions and high load conditions. Distinct operating modes are defined for each set of load conditions. Under low load conditions, a homogeneous mixture of main fuel and air is too lean to be flammable; consequently, the main fuel is injected at high pressure immediately following injection of the pilot fuel. Under high load conditions, fuel is injected in three stages. In the first stage, the main fuel is injected during the intake stroke or early in the compression stroke to form a substantially homogenous mixture of main fuel and air. However, the risk of knocking limits the quantity of main fuel that can be introduced in the first stage. In the second stage, the pilot fuel is injected near top dead center and ignites the homogenous mixture of fuel and air. Since the amount of fuel that could be injected in the first stage was limited by the knock limit, an additional quantity of main fuel is injected in a third stage during the power stroke.

    • The present invention relates to an injection system for an internal combustion engine operating on self-igniting, liquefied petroleum gas and including at least one injector per cylinder for direct fuel injection into the combustion chamber, a fuel tank in which fuel is held at a feed pressure, and a high-pressure fuel pump delivering fuel to the injector, the pressurized parts of the injector system being connected with the fuel tank by means of pressure relief lines. In order to ensure safe operation in a simple manner the proposal is put forward that a heating device should be provided which will convert the liquefied gas, at least partially, into a gaseous phase, at least in certain sections of the pressurized parts of the injection system. The gas bubble produced during this process will convey the liquid phase of the liquefied petroleum gas into the fuel tank.
