An anti-friction bearing arrangement serves to take up a load and/or to guide the piston, such anti-friction bearing arrangement being arranged in the housing of the pressure medium cylinder. An anti-friction bearing arrangement is arranged within the cylinder space of the pressure medium cylinder in or on the drive piston. This means that pressure medium cylinders with an extremely small cross section and an extremely simple structure may be produced economically.

    • Internal bearing assemblies for a rodless slide assembly. The internal bearing assemblies are positioned in bearing slots which are provided in portions of a transmission bracket and include inner bearing members and outer bearing shell members. Force applied to the internal bearing members causes them to slide up inclined surfaces of the bearing slots. The inner bearing members press against the outer bearing shell members which in turn press against the inner surface of the rodless slide bore. As a result, a radially inward force is applied to the transmission bracket. This radially inward force is transmitted to a saddle and external bearing assembly. The internal bearing assemblies thus hold the saddle against the outer surface of the rodless slide.

    • Disclosed are techniques and apparatus for flexibly mounting a mechanism. The embodiments describe a flexible mount that is at once tolerant of misalignment, shock resistant, insensitive to rotational orientation, compact, and failure resistant. A mechanism is rigidly attached to a retainer that interlocks with a stationary housing and confines and compresses annular resilient members. The methods may in particular apply to the mounting of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for actuation of a shutter assembly in an optical system. In addition the techniques can apply to the flexible mounting of other mechanisms incorporating movable members having axes of symmetry, including push rods and rotating shafts.

    • A linear drive comprising a housing, which possesses a cylinder barrel having a longitudinal slot. The interior space of such cylinder barrel is closed by closure plugs axially inserted into the interior space.     • A combustion-driven hydroelectric generating system has one or more combustion cylinders that contain a liquid (such as water) and receive a combustible fuel/oxidizer mixture that is ignited and the explosive force of the combustion acts on the surface of the liquid to transfer a metered slug of the liquid to a pressurized vessel containing a pressurized gas (preferably an inert gas). The pressurized liquid from the pressurized vessel serves as a “head of water” that can be used to operate a water wheel (Pelton wheel) or hydroelectric generator and perform other useful work. The transferred liquid is replaced in the combustion cylinders, another charge of the fuel/oxidizer is introduced and ignited and the process is repeated. Replacement liquid is introduced into the combustion cylinders through a closed loop system utilizing the exhaust of the combustion cycles to significantly lower the elapsed time period of each single cycle, and increases the production of power, efficiency of operation, and reliability.
