    • 1357126 Fractionation of amyloses K HAYASHIBARA 26 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 40101/71 Heading C3U A process for the fractionation of macromolecular amylose and low molecular weight amylose (lower than D.P. 50) involves extracting amylose in the form of fine powder ( - 100 mesh air dried or 20-100 mesh spray dried powder) with a solvent and separating the dissolved low molecular weight amylose solution from the undissolved residual macromolecular amylose. Solvents mentioned are warm water and mixtures of water with C 3 -C 6 alkanols such as propanol and n-butanol, acetone or fatty acids. The amylose material may, for example, be the mixture resulting from the hydrolysis by α-1, 6-glucosidase of corn starch or amylomaize starch. Other starches are also mentioned. The insoluble residual macro-molecular amylose may be re-extracted in powder form after gelatinizing it by heating, drying and pulverizing. Similarly, the solution obtained by the original extraction may be concentrated, dried and pulverized and the resulting powder reextracted.
