    • Provided is a transparent softener composition having a high softening effect and imparting good feeling to clothes. The composition comprises (a) a compound having one group selected from an amino group and a quaternary ammonium group and one hydrocarbon group having 8 to 36 carbon atoms in its molecule, (b) an anionic surfactant having a hydrocarbon group having 14 to 36 carbon atoms and a —SO3M group and/or a —OSO3M group [M: counter ion] in its molecule, (c) an organic solvent having a log P of 0.2 to 3.0 and water, wherein (a)/(b) is a specified molar ratio, or comprises (a″) a compound having one group selected from an amino group and a quaternary ammonium group and one hydrocarbon group having 8 to 36 carbon atoms in its molecule and (b″) an anionic surfactant having a hydrocarbon group having 8 to 36 carbon atoms and a —SO3M group and/or a —OSO3M group (M: counter ion) in its molecule wherein at least one of (a″) and (b″) contains a hydrocarbon group selected from (1) a hydrocarbon group having one or more unsaturated bonds and 8 to 36 carbon atoms and (2) a branched alkyl group having 8 to 36 carbon atoms.

    • The present invention provides an improved scale conditioning composition and method that results in improved dissolution and disruption of tube scale, hardened sludge and other deposits composed primarily of highly densified magnetite such as those found in heat exchange vessels. After treatment with the advanced scale conditioning composition, these magnetite rich deposits are more easily removed using known and commercially available high pressure hydro-mechanical cleaning techniques. The present invention further provides effective cleaning in a short period of time and at relatively low temperatures, while reducing the amount of waste produced and reducing the resulting corrosion of carbon and low alloy steel components within the steam generator during the cleaning process.
