摘要： 1339780 Dewaxing hydrocarbons PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO 24 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 16708/71 Heading C5E Petroleum distillates are dewaxed in the absence of added solvent by adding a dewaxing aid comprising a hydrogenated butadienestyrene copolymer having a number average molecular weight of 2000-200,000, cooling the mixture to precipitate wax and separating the precipated wax from the distillate. Distillate fuels boiling between 70 and 750 F. are dewaxed with the addition of 0À01-5 wt. per cent of a hydrogenated polymer of which the monomers are comprised of 2-98 wt. per cent styrene. The wax can be separated by filtration and washed with cold acetone.

摘要： Ziegler-type polymers comprising C14-C24 alpha-monoolefins and having a number average molecular weight within the range between about 1,000 and about 200,000 are effective dewaxing aids for improving the efficiency of the separation of wax from hydrocarbon oils. Preferred dewaxing aids include mixtures of two or more homopolymers of C14-C24 alpha-monoolefins and copolymers of two or more alpha-monoolefins containing from 14 to 24 carbon atoms in the molecule. The Ziegler-type polymers when combined with Friedel-Crafts condensation products of chlorinated wax and naphthalene synergistically improve the separation of wax from petroleum oils.

摘要： 1455597 Wax crystal growth control FOSTER WHEELER CORP 1 May 1974 [25 May 1973] 19031/74 Heading BIG [Also in Division C5] The rate of wax crystal growth in an oil dewaxer having cooled pipes through which the oil flows and in which scrapers are rotated to remove the wax, is controlled to assure efficient filter operation downstream. The scrapers are rotated at a comparatively slow rotational speed for a given period of time to provide for optimum growth of wax crystals and then automatically rotated at a higher speed to clean the interior of the pipe so that wax can continue to crystallise. Suitable apparatus comprises a dewaxing unit in which oil containing amorphous wax and solvent flows through the inner of two coaxial pipes with a coolant flowing in the annular space between the inner and outer pipes so that wax crystallises on the inside surface of the inner pipe and is removed by a scraper, moving over and bearing against the inside surface, and provided with a speed control comprising a hydraulic motor connected to feed hydraulic fluid by two lines in one of which there is a motor speed control valve connected to an automatic timer which closes the valve for a predetermined time and allows the motor to run at a slow speed, or opens the valve for a predetermined time and allows the motor to run at a faster speed sufficient to clean the inner surface of the inner pipe. Preferred speeds are 2 and 20 rpm.
