    • A process for producing static-free synthetic rubber includes mixing acrylonitrile-butadiene, Anti-static agent, Activated zinc oxide, Zinc stearate, HI-sil (EPDM), Plasticizer, and Stearic Acid prior to a kneading process at 140 degrees Celsius for 8 to 12 minutes. (DCP) Peroxides and Blowing agents are added to the kneeing mixture two minutes before the end of the kneeding process. After the kneeding process, the resultant mixture is fed through rollers to form a sheet of the synthetic rubber. The sheet is then cut into appropriately-sized pieces and put into a mold, where the pieces are subjected to high pressure and a temperature of 160 degrees Celsius. The pieces are then left to cool, and then be used for articles such as static-free footwear.

    • Thermoplastic polymer blends and formed articles made thereof which exhibit superior physical properties such as a combination of excellent scratch resistance, rigidity and impact toughness. The thermoplastic polyolefin blend includes from about 40 percent to about 80 percent of a base component of propylene-containing polymer; from about 5 percent to about 30 percent of a toughening component; and from about 3 percent to about 40 percent of a thermoplastic elastomer, preferably of a high styrene containing block or random copolymer. A preferred thermoplastic polyolefin blend includes between about 50 percent to about 70 percent of the base component; between about 10 percent to about 20 percent of the toughening component; and between about 5 percent to about 20 percent of the styrene block copolymer. Advantageously, the thermoplastic elastomer has greater than 50 percent by weight styrene monomer.

    • The invention provides dental composition system having curable liquid which is useful alone as a light curable composition and which is useful by mixing with a powder in preselected proportions to form dual cure compositions. The composition system is useful as bonding agent, cement, liner, base, restorative, pit and fissure sealants, and/or core build-up material, having improved adhesion to dentin. After storing the powder and the liquid in separate containers for at least two weeks and then mixing a portion of the powder and a portion of the liquid to form a mixture, the polymerizable compound polymerizes within 20 minutes of the mixing to form a first polymeric material having a flexural strength of at least 50 MPa, and an expansion in water at 37° C. after 90 days of less than 1 percent by volume.

    • A thermoplastic molding composition comprising a grafted rubber and a copolymeric matrix is disclosed. The composition is characterized in that its grafted rubber includes a substrate, a first grafted phase and a subsequent grafted phase which are sequentially grafted to said substrate. The substrate which contains a crosslinked elastomer is grafted with a first grafted phase and with a subsequent grafted phase, both phases containing copolymers of at least one vinylaromatic monomer and at least one member selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylonitrile and alkyl (meth)acrylate. The relative ratios of the monomers making up the copolymerized phases differ one from the other. The grafted rubber is present in particulate form having a weight average particle size of about 0.1 to 1.0 microns. The composition features improved impact strength and reduced opacity.
