    • A method of separating high purity diamondoid fractions from a mixture of diamondoid compounds comprising the steps of: (a) providing a feed containing at least 25 weight percent diamondoid compounds and at least 40 total weight percent substituted and unsubstituted adamantane, at least 30 total weight percent substituted and unsubstituted diamantane, and at least about 5 total weight percent substituted and unsubstituted triamantane; (b) distilling an overhead fraction in the absence of a reflux; (c) cooling said overhead to a temperature above the freeze point of the feed mixture; (d) recovering unsubstituted diamondoid solids from said overhead fraction at a purity of at least 90 weight percent, and (e) distilling said overhead fraction with reflux to recover substituted diamondoids.
