摘要： A coating for a mold surface of a casting mold includes a metallic bond coat bonded to the mold surface and having a continuous, uniform thickness of between about 0.002 to 0.005 inch on the mold surface. A topcoat of yttria stabilized zirconia is located on top of the metallic bond coat and has a continuous, uniform thickness of between about 0.005 to 0.030 inch. The topcoat has a porosity between 5-15%. The topcoat has a surface layer having a thickness of between about 0.001 to 0.002 inch and a porosity of less than 1%.

摘要： The cement-free, castable refractory composition for producing dense cast refractories according to the present invention comprises 70-98 weight % of refractory aggregate regulated to have a particle size of 10 mm or less, 2-30 weight % of ultrafine refractory powder having a particle size of 10 &mgr;m or less, and 0.01-1.0 weight % (outer percentage), based on 100 weight % of the refractory aggregate+the ultrafine refractory powder, of a dispersing agent. The cement-free, castable refractory composition tempered with water or other tempering liquids to have a castable flowability or the factory-premixed, cement-free, castable refractory composition is conveyed to a gunning nozzle by a pump, and a coagulant is added to the tempered refractory material together with compressed air in the nozzle to carry out gunning.

摘要： Substantially dry, self-hardening, thermally activated refractory compositions, suitable for use to produce linings for furnaces or metallurgical vessels such as ladles, tundishes or launders, comprise particulate refractory material, an inorganic binder having associated therewith chemically or physically bound water such as sodium metasilicate pentahydrate or tribasic sodium phosphate dodecahydrate, and an element or compound, such as aluminium, which will react exothermically with the inorganic binder. The compositions may also contain an inhibitor such as a mineral oil or a vegetable oil to inhibit premature exothermic reaction.
