    • The invention is directed to a device (1) for automatically loading workpiece palette (2) with delicate workpieces (3), the workpiece palette (2) having straight cords (6) disposed in a grid- and/or comb-like manner with free spaces (7) between the rods (6). In order to hold the workpiece palette (2) a palette gripper (12) is provided, which lowers an empty workpiece palette (2) from a lowering position (13) lying above the empty positioning surface (9) through the plane of the latter into a receiving position (14) lying below the positioning surface (9), the receiving region (15) of the workpiece palette (2) being lower than the plane of the positioning surface (9). When the workpiece palette (2) has been lowered, the workpieces (3) are laid on the positioning surface (9). The palette gripper (12) raises the workpiece palette (2) out of the receiving position (14) such that the workpieces (3) are also raised.

    • The present invention is directed to a storage system (10) including at least two tape libraries (11) and a transport mechanism (22) for transferring cartridges (20) between the tape libraries (11). The transport mechanism (22) includes a frame (64), a transporter (68) and a mover (66). The transporter (68) is sized and shaped to retain the cartridge (20). The mover (66) moves the transporter (68) along the frame (64). Additionally, the mover (66) pivots at least a portion of the transporter (68) between a first, almost horizontal, load/unload position (70A), a transport position (72) and a second, almost horizontal load/unload position (70B) during movement between the tape libraries (11). Further, the transport mechanism (22) includes a latch (140) that selectively retains the cartridge (20) in the transporter (68) during movement between the tape libraries (11). With this design, the transport mechanism (22) can reliably transfer one or more of cartridges (20) between tape libraries (11), through a relatively narrow opening, without interrupting the operation of the tape libraries (11).

    • A flat article turntable for use in a flat article sorting system having a flat article holding cartridge, a cartridge handling mechanism and an automatic flat article feeder is provided with an empty cartridge presentation mechanism for presenting empty cartridges to a cartridge handling system. A rotating mechanism rotates the cartridge back to face the cartridge handler and an index mechanism indexes the empty cartridge from an active to a passive side of the turntable.

    • A modular sliding door grid including a sliding door mounted on a low profile frame. The sliding door is actuated by at least one pivot bar, connected at one end to the sliding door and at the other end to a mechanical linkage. Actuation of a frame bar in a forward direction urges the mechanical linkage in a forward direction and causes the pivot bar to move around a center-point such that the sliding door moves in a backward direction. The backward movement of the sliding door removes support for a case load positioned on the sliding door so that the case load drops.

    • A tray feeder sequentially takes pallets, each holding a tray storing electronic parts, out of a magazine and feeds them to a pick-up position where the electronic parts are picked up by a transfer head of an electronic parts-mounting apparatus. The tray feeder comprises the magazines for containing the pallets in a stacked manner, a drawing portion for drawing the pallet from the magazine and carrying the same thereon, a lifting-lowering portion for vertically moving the drawing portion, a non-mounted-parts discharge portion provided above the magazines, and a replenishing portion for receiving the pallet, holding the empty tray from which the electronic parts have been picked up, and for recharging the pallet after fresh electronic parts are replenished. With this construction, there can be achieved the tray feeder that is excellent in the operation efficiency and is compact in size.
