    • PURPOSE:To enhance braking force even if an area of a parachute is the same with a conventional one by rotating the parachute, preventing a twist of a parachute tensioning rope by a slidingly movable part inteposed between the parachute and an object to be controlled, and transmitting only the braking force to the object to be controlled. CONSTITUTION:A parachute 1 is taken out by a pilot chute 7, and is expanded. The parachute 1 is made discontinuous in the circumferential direction, and is in rotational symmetry with a riser 4 as the center line, and has radial-shaped clearances 12, or holes, pleats or the like, and this discontinuous part forms an element respectively as a rotary wing, and rotates. By this rotation, the parachute 1 receives wind resistance excessively by advance speed of the parachute and rotational speed in the perpendicular tangent direction. Though lift acts on the parachute 1 by a wind blowing into this parachute 1, this lift acts so as to reduce the advance speed of the parachute as well as to promote the rotation of the parachute 1. Since the parachute 1 is installed in a machine body through a thrust bearing 5, a phenomenon that a rope 3 is twisted by the rotation and the parachute 1 is closed and braking force is reduced, does not happen.

    • A parachute which may be dropped and deployed at high speeds and which will lift stores being carried by the parachute to an altitude near or above the initial drop altitude may include a canopy formed from concentric, circumferentially arranged ribbons in which the rearward facing portions of the canopy have a greater porosity than the remaining portions of the canopy. The greater porosity portion may be formed with ribbons narrower than the other ribbons or preferably with ribbons which assume an outwardly slanted relationship with respect to the normal inflated canopy curvature.

    • A canopy for a paraglider or a parachute. The canopy including upper and lower sides and a plurality of ribs extending between the sides and made of a mesh cloth. The upper and lower sides and the ribs define a plurality of cells which are arranged adjacent one another. Each of the cells has an opening at a front end thereof for introducing air into the canopy. The mesh cloth of the ribs includes large and small apertures disposed therein. According to one embodiment, either the large or the small apertures are arranged in matrix-like groups which are separated from one another by the other of the large and small apertures. According to another embodiment, the large and small apertures are disposed in groups which are arranged parallel to one another in the vertical direction.
