    • A system for launching bodies from a submarine includes a pump for transferring seawater to an elastomeric ejection tank, and a check valve that permits transfer of the seawater to the tank, and closes upon filling of the tank. The valve includes a head and a seat, a stem having fixed thereon the head and a disk having a circular protrusion extending toward the seat, a cup mounted around the stem and having a circular depression in a surface thereof, and radially extending holes disposed in the cup. During valve closure, the disk protrusion enters the cup depression forcing water in the depression to exit the cup through a primary restrictive path of an annular gap between the protrusion and depression and a secondary restrictive path of the radially extending holes, to slow the valve head in movement during engagement with the valve seat.

    • There is disclosed a hull for a sea-going vessel of displacement type having a flat bottomed midship section (100) of a constant cross-section which is substantially rectangular in cross section below the water line, and a converging bow portion (200) extending from said midship section, said bow portion having a curved transition (H) between the bottom (F) thereof and each hull side, the transition (C) between bottom and sides along the bilges in said midship section being relatively sharp, and in particular of radius less than 0.5 m, for example 0.025 m. The stern section (300) shape includes two propulsion arches each formed by an inclined, substantially part-cylindrical surface (S) extending from the flat bottom aft and upward to join the transom. The hull form provides a working vessel with extremely efficient roll-damping, yet sufficient transit speed for worldwide operation. The hull form can be constructed at relatively low cost, avoiding for the most part the need to form compound curves.

    • A collapsible pontoon paddle boat that includes inflatable pontoons that may be deflated, and a series of frame pieces that may be disassembled. The frame structure includes metal tubes that snap into anchors that are integrally formed on the sides of the pontoons. A removable seat is provided for the boat that is supported by a series of cinch straps that allows fore and aft sections of the seating surface to be adjusted up and down relative to the pontoons. A plurality of mounting locations may be provided for removable cranks and paddle wheels so that their position may be adjusted relative to the seat. A rudder for the pontoon paddle boat is connected to the frame for the pontoon paddle boat by a friction connection and includes a pivot mechanism that permits folding to a position where it extends parallel to the boat.

    • The pneumatic float according to the invention comprises an airtight outer skin (5), which can be inflated with compressed air via a valve (21). Webs (6) extend essentially over the entire length of the float, which are joined to the outer skin (5) along the lines (1) and on the one hand divide the inside of the float into intercommunicating chambers (7), and on the other hand give the float the desired contours (14), stability and stability against bending. The webs can comprise single or multiple layers of low-stretch woven material or plastics material foils. To improve directional stability in operation and as a protection against damage to the outer skin (5) the float has a keel rail (8), for instance comprising plastics material, and glued on. To avoid the Coanda effect two side rails (9) are attached in a similar manner.

    • A center pontoon for a pontoon boat provides improved performance and an adjustable engine mount. The adjustable engine mount makes it possible to adjust the relative position of an outboard engine relative to the waterline of the boat. The center pontoon includes a relieved top surface for allowing a vertical adjustment movement of the engine mount. The mount has an elongated, mount body which is adjustably attached to the bottom of the hull of the boat by a pair of spaced apart, elongated mounting rails. The mount body has a vertical profile that is compatibly shaped with the relieved top surface to provide sufficient vertical adjustable movement. The engine mount is located between a pontoon boat deck and the center pontoon.

    • A fin and watercraft system includes at least one pair of fins mounted to the underside of a watercraft adjacent the side edges. The fins rotate freely from a position substantially parallel to the centerline of the watercraft through an arc of up to 90 degrees to alternate positions angled from the nearest side edge toward the centerline of the watercraft. The fins include a front portion extending from a leading edge to a vertical axis and a rear portion extending from the vertical axis to a trailing edge. The rear portion is larger than the front portion causing the fin to rotate in the direction of an oncoming water flow. The fins have symmetrical lateral surfaces and include a bearing plate mounted in a recess in the lower surface of the watercraft. A pin extends from a top surface of the fin engages an arcurate slot in the bearing plate to limit rotation of the fin. In a variant of the invention, a setscrew fitted to a threaded opening in the side edge of the watercraft is positioned to bear against the pin, varying the initial angle of the fin to the centerline of the watercraft. An opening fitted with a sealing plug penetrates the upper surface of the watercraft and permits a water stream to be introduced into the recess so that dirt and debris may be flushed from the bearing plates and out through a flexible seal at the lower surface of the watercraft surrounding the fin.

    • A body board includes a pair of extensions along opposite sides adjacent the stern of the board. The extensions have a rearwardly-facing surface defining a volume for receiving water by which the body board may be propelled. The extensions are formed of a flexible material enabling folding of the extensions onto the surface of the body board to reduce the lateral and height dimensions of the body board for handling, shipping, transportation and storage purposes. To maintain the extensions in operable configuration, an insert is provided for reception within the extensions and is formed of a material more rigid than the flexible material of the extensions.
