    • A pivot lock (100) extending between a first location (112) on a vehicle (102) and a second location (114) on a panel (104) wherein the pivot lock is adapted to selectively lock the panel in an open position is provided. The pivot lock includes a linkage assembly (121) having a first link (108) coupled to a second link (110) at a third location (120). The first link is rotatable from an unlocked position, wherein the third location is located on a first side of a line (144) intersecting the first and second locations, to a locked position, wherein the third location is located on a second side of the line. A release mechanism (128) is movable such that the release mechanism engages the linkage assembly to remove the first link from the locked position, thereby permitting the panel to reciprocate into the closed position.

    • The present patent application relates to a pedestrian safety device for automotive vehicles (1) having a hood (2) being hinged and releasably latched to the vehicle body. An actuator member (6) is arranged transversally inside the upper forward region of said vehicle (1) and the ends of the actuator member respectively slideably hinged (11) in a respective inclining guide track (12a) extending rearwards within said vehicle (1). The hinges (11) are arranged to carry a respective first lifting member (14) arranged for vertical sliding in respect to the vehicle body. The first lifting members (14) are arranged below the hood (2) such that they will be brought to uplift the hood (2) in the region of its leading edge (2a) upon said hinges (11) carrying it being translated up said inclining guide tracks (12a) as a result of collision impact on said actuator member (6).

    • A soundproofing cover absorbs noises, produced by a vehicle. It is fastened to a plurality of vehicle-side installation portions, and includes a cover body, composed of a polymer foamed substance, and a plurality of brackets, held integrally to the cover body. The respective brackets have an installation portion and a holding portion. The installation portion is to be fastened to the vehicle-side installation portions. The holding portion is held and fastened integrally to the cover body. At least two of the installation portions constitute a datum bracket, connected by one of the holding portions shared commonly. The positioning accuracy can be improved in the installation of the soundproofing cover to the vehicle-side installation portions so that the installation operability can be upgraded. In addition, the increment of the weight can be kept minimum so that the lightweighting requirement can be satisfied.

    • A vehicle body closure assembly combines a hinge, that provides a plurality of pivot axes that are aligned with a common intersection point above a body opening closed by a closure panel hinged to the vehicle body, and a displacement limiter that controls the open position of the closure so that the hinge pieces maintain a stable alignment with respect to each other. Preferably, the hinge structure or adjacent supports include the displacement limiter. A panel mount defines a first hinge axis, a body mount defines a second axis and a pair of links are pivotally secured together between the panel mount and the body mount to complete a hinge set. Preferably, a pair of hinge sets are secured to the hinge side of the closure panel to align said panel for movement in a non-interfering path with respect to body portions adjacent the path.
