    • A cam bar assembly for transferring a trolley from driving engagement with a first chain to driving engagement with a second chain wherein the cam bar assembly includes a cam bar having a first longitudinal axis, a cam surface centered about the first longitudinal axis, a second longitudinal axis, and a cam face centered about the second longitudinal axis. The second longitudinal axis is offset from the first longitudinal axis. The present invention is also directed to a power and free conveyor having the cam bar assembly as well as a drive trolley disposed within a free track for movement in a driven direction and having a retractable surface movable between an engaging position and a retracted position. The power and free conveyor also includes a first drive chain, a second drive chain, and a transfer zone having an entrance and an exit. The first drive chain is positioned to drivably engage the drive trolley at the entrance and the second drive chain is positioned to drivably engage the drive trolley at the exit. The cam bar is positioned in the transfer zone to engage the drive trolley and move the retractable surface from its engaging position to its retracted position.

    • The method and facilities for movement of vehicles over long distances are presented. The Method is comprised of the following steps: (a) connecting at least two main rollers displaced over a long distance: one in a port of departure and one in a port of arrival, by a series of closed-loop, light, strong cable (consisting of one or more loops) located at least in one of the following places: in the air, on the ground surface, on the water surface; (b) supporting said cable by at least one of the following devices: wings, air balloons, columns, rollers; (c) connecting at least one of said main rollers to an engine; (d) running said engine; (e) connecting at least one load vehicle to said cable at departure port; (f) accelerating said vehicle; (g) disconnecting said vehicles from said cable at arrival port; (h) braking said vehicles. An Installation using Method for Movement of vehicles comprising: A set of rollers disposed in the ports of departure, arrival, at points of direction change, and at middle points; a set of light, strong, closed-loop cables (loops) connect the ports of departure and arrival located over a long distance; engines placed near rollers and connected at least to one of said rollers; vehicles for transportation of people and loads; devices for connection and disconnection of the vehicles to the cable and placed on the vehicles. The author also proposes 5 projects: an air bridge over the Straits of Gibraltar, airlines connecting New York to Washington D.C., and New York to Paris, airline for delivery of fuel gas, and typical Auto Highways or city passenger transit systems.

    • An inclined conveyor for transporting shopping carts between an upper floor and a lower floor. The inclined conveyor includes a continuous conveyor assembly having a conveyor belt including a plurality of spaced drive lugs that engage a shopping cart. The moving conveyor belt transports the shopping cart between the upper and lower floors. The inclined conveyor includes a jam detector that interrupts operation of the conveyor upon detection of a jam along the conveyor. The inclined conveyor further includes sensors that prevent operation of the conveyor assembly if a person is present at either the unloading end or loading end of the conveyor assembly. At least one cart arrester is positioned along the length of the inclined conveyor to prevent uncontrolled descent of a shopping cart along the length of the inclined conveyor.

    • A conveyor roller assembly typically for pushing a vehicle through a car wash having a chain drive and split track, includes a bar extending form its forward end beneath the track to its back end above it. The back end carries a pair of rollers that travel on the track and a second pair of rollers for pushing against the tire of the vehicle. The front end carries an axle rigidly attached to the bar and a pair links one on each side of the bar and each link rigidly carrying a sleeve having a very close tolerance with the axle and through which the axle extends. The links attach to the chain drive, and rollers are carried by the sleeves and engage the lower surface of the track. The link, sleeve and roller arrangement causes the conveyor roller assembly to maintain alignment with the track.

    • An accumulator mechanism for stopping a carrier on an inverted power and free conveyor system when it approaches a stopped preceding carrier. A pivot arm on a leading trolley for each carrier has a retractable trolley dog which is normally driven by a chain dog projecting from a drive chain. The accumulator mechanism includes an actuator lever which is pivoted to mounting plates and carriers a cam roller that acts in a cam slot formed in a pivot plate. When the actuating lever is pivoted due to contacting a preceding carrier, the cam roller acts within the contour of the slot to pivotally displace the pivot plate. The pivot plate then pulls a lift link upwardly to pull on the pivot arm and retract the trolley dog from the chain dog. The slot is arranged to effect lost motion of the cam roller in the slot to accommodate over travel.
